cerb v gallardo....

i nearly had a moment tonight with a gallardo,
we were in traffic on an A road in lincs, he came past and dropped in the line of traffic right in front of me, the road became a dual carriage way and i thought we were going to have some fun but instead of waiting for the ordinary cars in front to do their over taking before we could get it on, he decided to drive like a muppet and under-take and weave through them.
by the time the way was clear he was dissapearing, knowing it was a lost cause i still decided to go after him, fair to say that he must have picked a number and decided to cruise as i did start to close him down but he saw me coming and gassed it, then an RAF police range rover in the inside lane really messed things up
so if he had waited and we had got on it together at the same time how do you think i would have got on my little 4.2 cerb?

I've had a play with a Ferrari F430 and couldn't shake him - he sat inches from the back bumper with obvioulsy lots more in reserve. I pulled over to let him take the lead, but we hit traffic and spoiled our play.
I'd say it wouldn't be that much in it in decent conditions, but bear in mind that my car is up for sale for £14,800 and it's cost him a fair bit more to get half a cars length ahead.

Outside of TVR the Gallardo is my next favourite ride.
I was lucky enough to be passenger in one at last years Pie on the Beach, was thinking of buying one and the owner very kindly took me for a demonstration run.
I got to say - awesome in every respect. On paper I believe the performance figures are roughly equal to a Tuscan S, to be honest not sure how that stacks up t a 4.2 Cerbie? but I think given the driver aids, 4WD and brakes etc. you would be hard pressed to loose one.
I'm still going to buy a Cerbera though

I was behind one a couple of months back. Had a bit of clear road and it pulled away so I booted the Griff and to my surprise I was right up it's chuff

He was either not trying or they ain't that quick to accelerate, in which case I should think a cerb would give it real problems.

i was gutted, my heat was pounding and the adrenanline pumping ready to rip it up and it didn't happen
my wife knew what was going to happen because i went dead quiet all she could hear was me breathing...
the reason i wanted to go for it was because my mate has got a 911 s on a 54plate and he said that he got blown away by one just last week so i wanted to be able to tell him i'd got revenge for him
they're supposed to have 552 bhp but with 0-60 in 4.1 the power must be delivered in the mid range
the good thing is that he went for it and i went after him and as i keep saying, that's what our public want to see.
they want to go home and say they saw a tvr and a lambo havng a tussle not "i saw a tvr and a lambo driving like god boys aughto.
i have to say fair play to the clio sport that was in between me and the lambo he wanted some action but i think he felt like the kid in the shower at school that realises he aint got what he thought he had but it was too late...

yuppie tw*t in my street has a gallardo,on a run to essen last year my capri(5.0 rv8 heavily modded twin turbo/1164 kg)had him behind me up to about 125/130 then he started to pull away(water injection and nitrous for next year maybe).
not bad for a car that cost about one tenth of the cost of his car to build!
but a decent cerb would definitely do the business at higher speeds.

Your kidding! must be steel and aluminium construction causing electrolytic reaction and the rapid corrosion.
Did read somewhere the Murcielago construction is still along traditional lines, with steel spaceframe chassis etc. where as the gallardo uses more audified state of the art construction methods, so guess the old Murci is last of the line of traditional Lambos going back to the Miura.
Anyway back on topic, cant help feeling all this talk of "could have had him","He was hammering his Enzo and I was right up his posterior up to 170" etc. etc. is all very well, but its all very subjective and there are so many factors, from driver skill, to size of drivers balls, to just common sense and risk assessment.

On the way to Supercar Sunday last month, I surprised the owner of a Gallardo (Crikeymikey)and others with the performance of my griff up to undisclosed speeds. His words were "riding shotgun on my G's ar5e", "Hassleing other Lambos", "If he ever sells his rocket powered conoe, I will vouch for its performance!". I was quite chuffed. The girl held her own in some very exspencive company, even round corners!
