Which would you rather have, a half developed car shown at the motorshow that doesnt appear for another 18 months and then very different from the show car and full of bugs.
or a properly developed car that you can buy and drive straight away..
Its just a different style to Peter Wheeler... NS seems to want to take his time and only market sellable cars.... its easy to forget that although the saggy, tuscan conv and possibly the tuscan 2 were on the cars before ns bought the company. He is largley responsible for them actually making it to production.
I suspect that NS him self is really keen to have a model out that is a 100% NS car but if he wants to take his time and do it properly then im prepared to wait.
I will admit to a v8 being my preference over the speed 6 and to be honest im not that bothered if its a tvr or bought in v8, although having gone down the inhosue route its difficult to go back.
I dont really care how good the speed 6 engine is... to me straight 6 engines belong in trucks

DID TVR actually come out and say they would be a V8 displayed at the motorshow!!!
Or was it just people on here who said they had inside info/new someone in the know etc..
Whatabout all those who said it was going to be a Volvo/Ford/Jag/LX V8 unit..

Err, I have. In fact owned both. Both V8 and S6 have their virtues and I see no reason why TVR couldn't provide both. [with a return to the 'Melling' design S6] Big disappointment no new V8. Won't go down the S6 v V8 debating road again though, Ohh, No. Still bearing the scars.
PS. As for author thinking of going Porsche, well it's sad but inevitable long term if current trend persists.

I think a V8 car would have secured them quite a few orders, so it is a big missed opportunity IMHO.
The original Griff in 1990 was no where near production, but that got a lot of orders upfront.
Will be having a look over the weekend at the TVR stand, but it just seems there is nothing drastically different to the models, just a few minor styling changes.
Good to see them there though, but something to hit the headlines and bring in the orders would have been nice.

Lets give them time!! I hear that there is a commitment to do things PROPERLY, with extended testing and development. It is good news to hear Ricardo are on board doing engine development. These guys build the Bugatti Veyron gear box, so should know what they are doing! OK, some of their recent PR has not been too hot, but chucking a "new" model together in a few months, taking orders and then not delivering for years, or at all, or delivering something vastly different from the show car is hardly going to help. T400, anyone...?

Don't think they have said there would be a V8 displayed, but they have said in official news that we were in for some surprises at the Motor Show. Check the factory news of April 25th 'Official statement on factory relocation' and the following link to TVRCC news.

I think statements like these have built up expectation before the Motor Show and some of us are a bit disappointed now. But I agree with others that it is better if they do things properly than to rush things. We'll just have to be patient I guess.

Have driven many a S6 and sorry don't share your optimism or the S6 lack of real torque. The new cars look fantastic and if anyone of them had had a V8 I would have purchased one.
This has all been done before of coarse but I will repeat myself WHAT TVR NEED ARE TWO ENGINES a V8 and a S6.
And as for a S6 sounding far better than a V8, i am not even going to respond to that.
I just think the guys running TVR at the moment don't have a clue and if they had listened to the dealers, TVRCC members or even popped in at a local TVRCC meet a few years ago and taken on the feedback they might be selling more cars.
I like so many other TVR nuts were really hopeful for a V8 T2 or Sag but sadly no. I just hope its not that far off coming for TVR sake.

Ive been avoiding saying anything, but now the cat is out of the bag, suppose it doesnt matter. Have known for a good cpl of weeks nothing of interest was being done for the Motorshow, was waiting to see how underwhelmed the reaction would be! Once I knew what was being taken/not taken to the Show I wasnt quite sure what Moleskins was thinking giving the general impression of New Releases for the Show, knowing there wasnt going to be anything! That really is liable to p**s your supporters off.
I understand something interesting is being created/sculpted back at the factory but its on a standard chassis, so its Speed 6 dimensions. Ive asked about a V8, had it confirmed that a number of V8s have been looked at and dropped into/onto the chassis and they dont fit. The next obvious question (well it was to me anyway) was "what about a new chassis then?" or words to that effect, and the answer was "what new chassis?" So to the best of my knowledge ...and I freely admit something maybe happening on that side I know nothing about... no new chassis is currently being developed to take a V8 and whatever new vehicle TVR are developing is being done on a similar chassis to the current cars and is taking an S6 of some sort.
There's other information around, but its well into factory rumour territory, so best policy is usually to let it go through 2 or 3 more iterations first before it decides on a final shape. I would be surprised if a V8 hit the showrooms in the next 18months though. I personally happen to think a V8 would suit a new 2+2GT car.

Umm no. Thing is as the factory has been my 2nd home since before I was 3 years old, I didnt think it was fair to take a place of someone who has never seen it.
Plus I can go whenever I want to (within reason of course).
