Just to put you right on one point, mobile phones do not create a spark, they are 'banned' because it is possible for the radio signal to alter the reading on the pump, and TVR flames occur on over-run not at idle or acceleration.

Starting to believe the propaganda? The reason mobile phones are prohibited from use on forecourts has more to do with the possibily of the signal interfering with the flow metering system and hence the accuracy of the bill than the negligble risk of any static spark igniting fumes and blowing the place up!

Have you driven a TVR yet? cos rest assured if you do it will be very difficult for you to resist remortgaging the house/selling the kids/hiring out the missus in order to get one sooner than you planned so beware of test drives.....

And finally, how long was the longest anyone had to wait before they could buy their TVR? Im only looking for some sympathy here ;p but yes, curious too, as to how much others had to endure in terms of waiting before they got their dream car.





Five years ago my 450SE had to go along with the first wife. I'm still some way off replacing the TVR but the wife was replaced within days!!!!

Do people here ever park away from the masses, and take two car parking spaces instead of one, when in supermarket carparks and suchlike. Surely (if its free parking) its legal, and will guarentee no scratches from other cars doors... but then, after reading all the purposely negative things people have done to some of the tvr owners here from jealousy and spite (still not sure if TIV's attract that) maybe that might be asking for trouble. Just wondering what people here do, to protect their cars, and sometimes £3000 paint jobs.



I might be sad, but as most people when they shop go into spaces forwards, I try to park with the passenger door against a wall/hedge, meaning that the drivers door opens up against the passenger door of another car. As most cars only have 1 person in, it reduces the risk of door chips. I even think about when going to the shops and what time to go into work to ensure a decent space.

Driving with the roof down makes up for it though!

Even before getting the TVR I'd park on the end of the row rather than the middle if given the option to. Wasn't quite as well thought through, but I figured that there were likely to only be doors on one side opening onto my car..

Plus I'm slightly more likely to be able to remember where I left it.. Appalling memory for such things..

I must admit to having a few nervous times when filling the car up after reading in the manual about driving across fileds and setting them on fire by mistake.

On a couple of occassions I have been daydreaming when filling up only to notice that loads of petrol has been dribbling out by the filler and dripping down towards to the hot exhausts...

I tend to park on the end of a row or near a wall. I used to double park after the following irritations that occurred on my first week of owning my new TVR:

1. Someone scuffing the paint down one side of the car - no idea what caused it.
2. Someone driving into the back of my car in Sainsburys

However, when double parked, someone had placed a sharp metallic object under my rear wheels hoping I would puncture my tyre when reversing out of the car park. I normally do the prestart inspection on the car so managed to avoid that. But some people...

Also, had a discussion with a Tescos car park attendant with double parking - although he couldn't fine me, he was nonetheless sympathetic with the argument of fine vs expensive respray.

My best advice is not to park the TVR in a public place or minimise the exposure. Even when you park next to an expensive car can lead to paint chips as I found out by leaving my car parked next to a brand new Merc. The Griff and Tuscan do not have rubber strips down the side to avoid accidental contact on opening a door.
