Just from a selfish point of view driving my Griff today must have spotted hundreds of boxsters, Z3/Z4, and the like and just wonder why they bother have they given up on life do they have no taste no imagination are they just a number i just find it very sad. A TVR is unique it has soul its more than just a car. In a way I am glad they can't see it they just play it safe live the norm and just wish they had the balls and passion for life which sadly has passed them by.
Makes us TVR owners just that little bit special.

It's also quite nice that TVRs scare some people.
They're scared of the reliability reputation, they assume that they cost a fortune to service and insure, even the noise turns some people off (can you believe that!!).
And of course, your granny can't drive it, which is why she drives a boxster.

I totally agree UB, however from responses to the TVR's I've had it does seem that there is a fair few people (if not the majority) that have never even heard of TVR. Hell, I know a guy with an M5, aspiring to a Lambo who before I knew him had never heard of a TVR
. My guess is if those people ever got round to purchasing a sports car it is likely to be a more recognised marque, i.e Beemer, Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo etc, sad but true. On the other hand, I don't complain as it does help to maintain exclusivity

ok from my basic maths 5000 a year would be 96 ish a week there is no way on earth tvr can sell (make) that many if they could do half that much(and make a profit) i will show my wotsit in burtons window and all that! the good old days was 16 a week 2 year waiting list and a proper (exclusive) car...just my opinion

I'm not sure how many Americans you've met, but from experience, they're not the kind of people who would take lightly, the thought of waiting three months for a clutch.

My TVR has far more soul than any religious nut i've ever met and as for a boxster being a sports car LOL Its a two door open top car not a sports car just like the Z4/MX5/MGs and like and cannot be placed in the same category as TVR/911/Fezzas/Lambos etc.
I just don't understand why people drive these uninspiring boring bland cars when you have beautiful fantastic looking TVRs. It can't be price because TVRs are a right bargain at the moment and when it comes to reliability I've had mine 7 years with no problems.
But then again I have never been one to follow the pack.

I was driving along the A259 from Brighton to Rottingdean (in my Mondeo) when I was passed by a silver Sagaris. It sounded superb and looked even better. It made my day and I couldn't help but smile. As I approached the 30 limit for Rottingdean I let a certain other make of sports car, German, pass and it looked ordinary. The driver was a rather attractive blonde who looked anything but ordinary but how much better she'd have looked in a Tuscan Convertible (or in the passenger seat of a blue Chimaera come to that). It sort of summed up the difference between TVR and other sports cars.
How about this for an impossible scenario: a Porsche Boxter in a traffic jam on the A35 pulls alongside a Vauxhall people carrier. One kid leans out of the o/s passenger window and a second stands up on the far passenger seat. The driver, no doubt their father, starts to tell them off but sees the Boxster and then calls out, "Nice car. Give it a few revs for me and the kids." Could never happen, could it. Now change the car to a rather stunning metallic blue '93 Chimaera and it seems inevitable.
There were smiles all round, the father did a little thumbs up as I pulled away, and the people in the car in front of the Vauxhall waved as well. Probably cost me a quid in petrol but it was worth every penny.

A true british classic and still underated by those who should know better. As for fears of reliability issues, if you read the other forums there are a lot of troublesome and very expensive cars out there.Its just that people seem to take great pleasure in trying to pull TVR down for some strange reason.....
No reason why they couldn't build 5000 cars a year. Would mean significant changes to the way the cars are built - possibly the biggest being the need to move from hand laid-up bodies to injection moulding.
Could they sell 5000 a year? Why not - its a big world out there and much of it new to TVR.
NS seems to have the ambition it takes to at least make the attempt to make TVR a worldwide brand and should be aplauded for not giving up when to do so would have been the far easier option.
