Put a provisional order down for a ne Cerb years ago (literally) then for financial reasons I had to put the order on hold. Since then, we have bought a 2nd hand Cerb & are more than happy with it, so have no need to buy a new one.

The initial deposit was £1000 + VAT (£1175), and I'm wondering is this can be sold to another customer, as I know the Factory will not refund the deposit (and I could do with the cash right now). The order is placed with Mole Valley, and hasn't even got to the stage of spec'ing the car, so everything (model included) can be changed.

Has anyone sold their order in the past, or know if it's even possible ?

Thanks

If you speak to your dealer nicely I'm sure they'll refund once they can sell it to a new customer.

You could try putting an Ad in the PH classifieds section. Chances are you won't get 100% back though (maybe 75%) but better than now't.

Thanks for the replies.... Am trying the "speak to dealer nicely" option 1st... They have to wait till the Director is back in (Monday) before they will give me an answer.... Then I might have to consider "selling" it...

I didnt know you could do this. I have a T350 deposit at the motorshow price that I perhaps should have offered for sale...

I also paid a deposit of £1,000 + VAT as a deposit on a T350 which I no longer want (see next).

Worse still the car is now at the dealers ready to be delivered but it is not in colour I was expecting. I wanted dark red (wildfire), car is in Nightfire pearl - just not my thing. I did order Nightfire by mistake. Nightfire - Wildfire sound similar!

So if anyone wants a reduction on a new T350 there is £1,175 off!

Needless to say dealer is not best pleased as he has paid the factory for it but accepts I do not want the car. I feel bad about dropping this on the dealer as he has helped me out over the years...... Now the car is to be sold (not registered yet) so if anyone wants to take it over let me know!! Can post pics if anyone interested.

The whole thing has really put a dampner on the old TVR ownership deal for me.

Strange, you say it was your mistake that you ordered a different colour to the one you wanted and yet this has put a "damper" on the whole TVR thing. Why, I don't understand? Why not just order another one in the right colour... Rich...

you should really consider yourself very lucky, if you placed an order and the car was made specifically for you the dealer could have easily forced you to take it

never heard of wildfire as a colour?

Up untill a short while ago, a deposit for a Morgan could be sold for considerably more than originally paid when it gets to a few months from build..

Could be something to do with an 11 year waiting list.

Sorry to hear that it's the wrong shade, happened to a friend (Jamesc brother-in-law), however Nightfire isn't too bad, and is sellable, unlike L500*** in pink!

However my Griff I'm told is Wildfire, says it on the touch up paint pot!

I think it's a GM USA colour, it's a lot darker (esp in some lights) than (for example) the Nightfire Griffith SE at Racing Green the other day, also Nigel Lewis's says his Tamora is Wildfire.

My car was (I think) in some of publicity pics for the Griffith 500SE (it's #001/100!)

(Stolen from TMS Site!)

What I meant was the whole thing is a disapointment and a bit disheartening. All looking forward to it etc. then Oh oh why is it that colour?? Plus I have known the dealer over a period of years and felt bad for saying I don't want the car thus leaving them with more cash invested in stock than they thought they would have.

Will look at getting/ordering another car again when this situation resolves itself.

Most people have not heard of 'Wildfire' which I find surprising but there you go. Probably part of the problem to begin with. I just assumed most people would know the colour. One of my faves.........

Come on "cheer-up" as they say, life's not that bad after all you are at one of the privaliged few who are in a position to buy a new very desirable car, you just had a misunderstanding that's all. Once it's moved on you should be able to get what you want...

Cheers,

Feeling better now. Just had a spin in my chimaera, amazing how that can make the blues disappear!!

It is hard to argue against a V8 as a pick me up.

Edited to say - why did I think the car was at Mole Valley?!!!! - Still - heatwaves all over England expected today/tomorrow before the rain returns sunday.

"make the blues disappear"? Thought you didn't like red!

Seriously - can yuou give the car colour a chance - or does it really make your skin crawl . . ?

I'm SURE someone will snap it up on Saturday as we are expecting a "heatwave" and I'm sure Mole Valley will be full of punters taking a look!

Good luck mate - we need as many T350s on the road as possible to "keep the faith" . . .

Ross,

Why not get a few picyures when you are at the dealer and stick them up here, i) the T350c is so new we are all still keen to see pics of it in various colours and ii) someone might fall in love with it! Rich...

Sorry to hear you have made a mistake. Nightfire is a very nice colour and quite a dark red.

After you've ordered and admit you slipped up I think it is grossly unfair to burden the dealer with your error. The least you could do is honour the purchase accept you made an error then work on resolving your error, maybe by leaving it at the dealer for them to sell on commision or selling private, or keep the car.

Morally I think it is wrong after seeing samples and signing a spec to then not accept the goods because of a difference in your perception of what you expected. I think it's for you to complete the deal then look at how you resolve your problem with the car.

I'm sorry but I do think you are being a bit unreasonable and indeed rather silly. I bet the car still looks the business and barring the actual shade of red is exactly what you wanted and indeed ordered.

If my T350C had turned up on Monday in Viper GTS blue, or Imperial Blue, I would still have taken the car.

Are you sure this is the reason that you don't want it?

Is that why people used to order beige cars in the seventies?

"Oh, I was expecting a biscuity colour and that looks more like magnolia!"

Sorry to hear about the hassles. I have never been too fussed about colours that much, but can understand the disappointment if you had built it up in your mind for months.
