I had the rear screen replaced 5 weeks ago via a main dealer at a cost of £200. From the day I got it back it was very stiff and would not fold down properly, it has now split after the 4th use.

The dealer will not replace the screen, they say it is down to me and you should not open the roof in cold wether.

The first one lasted 5 years, this one 5 weeks. I keep the car in a garage, only use on weekends and treat with great respect.

This can not be fair, what do you think?

Utter nonsense. Don't stand for it. Are they part of a chain? Just make a nuisance of yourself. They'll give in eventually. Chances are they subcontracted the work anyway, so what's their beef?

They did subcontract. They are telling me its not their problem my beef is with the subcontractor.#

I pointed out to them that I paid them not the subcontractor. You would think at very high main TVR dealer prices you would get the utmost in service.

Agree with Ted. The fact that they used a subcontractor is irrelevant to you as your 'contract' was with the Dealer.
Complain again, speak to the Dealer Principle and if they're owned by a chain then go to Customer Services.
(When I had problems with Kings I went to Sytner Customer Services who own them.)
Cheers..... Andrew

I'm about to do similar next week - I do know of "stiffer" plastic being used which will cause problems. . . need to attached heater to rear window to soften first!

You have no contractual relationship with the subcontactor and therefore no redress with them. The dealer, which I presume is based has an obligation to sort it out as you contracted with them.

Ask for the dealer principle and if he gives you no joy go in there in person, preferably when it is busy, and complain reasonably, but noisily. In earshot of potential customers.

How much was a new rear screen, out of interest?

Edited to say - sorry - I clearly overstepped the mark re naming and shaming

Result, after one more major rant they agree the deal is with them and they will get it sorted without cost to me.

They are ordering the plastic from TVR, novel concept, in order to get and exact match.

I now feel better after the PH rant and a result. It should not have come to this level of agro, why make me feel like I was dealing with the sub.
