Various folk keep coming up to me and ask if TVR has gone out of business! My somewhat startled reply was "I didn't think so, they have never been so healthy" They claim to have read it in the newspaper.

Does any body know any thing?

Let's face it, life may not be worth living without our beloved Blackpool heaven.

My dad very excitidly phoned me up and said he had read in the paper that TVR had gone out of business, and what was I going to do with my car ? I just asked if he meant TVR or TWR - "are they different then ?"

Yes they are different! TWR stands for Tom Walkinshaw Racing....! It was a car manufacturer and racing engines specialist and the TWR Group has been placed in administrative receivership. It has suffered through the collapse of the Arrows Formula One team (which Tom owned), as well as a dip in the motor racing industry.

If this speculation is still because the 2001 accounts are late, its worth noting that TVR have been trading for 15 months since the end of the year that those accounts relate to and in that time have launched 2 (3?) new models and built a car to go to Le Mans.

If I was Peter Wheeler and the company really was in the sh1t I'd be battening down the hatches and cutting non-contributing (as in non-revenue generating) costs wherever I could. But he hasn't, so I doubt we need to each go and stockpile TVR spare parts just yet

Err, actually that's not true is it - with the last of the new Griff SE's still not sold, even now there are a host of parts that you can no longer get for the Griff

TWR have problems

TVR are preparing for Le Mans, not the actions of someone with a cash problem.

The accounts are/were late and as discussed before there's not necessarily any conclusion to be drawn from this.

If people ask you if TVR have gone bust, the answer is a firm NO. Nip these rumours in the bud or it will damage TVR's reputation.
