Hi, I am just back in the market for a TVR (Having had to sell one 2 years ago) looking at Chim or a cerbera (Had a Tamora, no problems) as cannot afford same again. Just concerned at maint. costs, is there much difference. Any advise appreciated.

Costs on a Cerbera they say budget for £3K pa.

A Chim is probably less, budget something like £600 for a service, £400 for maintenance and say £500 for tyres...

Cerbera's take more lookinhg after and unless you wield your own spanners then they will cost more to maintain, it's often said to put 3K a year aside for running a cerby so if the clutch goes, or the radiator or the tapppets need doing etc etc then you've got cash to cover it.
However It is possible to run them on a lot less than this ( I hope as thats what I'm doing) as I'v espent about 400 quid on mine over the last 10months

Whereas Chimera's use less bespoke parts and are less frenetic so bits have an easier time and often are cheaper to replace.

But then a chimera is the slower car......

Go along ot your nearest owners club meet and see if you can't blag a few rides most people are more than happy ot oblige
