It's darn difficult to match and companies like Chipsaway can't get the formula because TVR refuses to let them have it!!! Recently had some work done and the paint shop had to make up the paint - when I asked them for the excess, they said as it was water based it would not keep and they threw it away.
However there are a couple of guys around (TVRCC members) who have some & might let you have a nail varnish bottle full if you ask nicely. Good luck!

Cheers!
Alan

I went to my local trade supplier for the paint shops with the car, the poped the bonnet read soem numbers off the vin plate and produced me a 1/2l of a perfect match for a tenner! All seemed very easy.

I did this too, there is a paint code / body code next to the VIN and my little tub of "TVR starmist blue" base coat matches very well

i gather from this info then, that starmist blue isn't a copy of another manufacturers colour?

i.e my mauritius/montreal blue episode.???

and that it must be a true TVR colour?

looks like i'll get my head under the bonnet and find the paint code. thumbup

It's a great match as they just tap in the numbers to the computer and it gives them the original recipe. Ideal for any small stone chips but do remember it is only a base coat to doesn't have any lacquer, for a proper matched shiny finish you'd need to use a paint shop properly, but this way is about as good you'll get at home.

thats fine....it would just be for doing the odd stone chip.

The car has recently had the front end done for stone chips anyway, so its virtually unmarked....

I'm looking at just dabbing the odd mark here and there to try and get it as near to perfect as possible without spending too much
