hi, i'm the very proud owner of a P reg BRG Griff 500, but this is my first posting!

since replacing HT leads the car has developed a miss fire that is solved for a short period - say 250 miles - by replacing the rotor arm. concluding the rotor arm was the problem was a process of elimination, checking sparks etc, coil ok, leads ok (currently 7mm) plugs ok.

my question is what would make the rotor arm 'fail' so quickly and why?

the only clue i've found is the brass does seem a little black on the 'live' edge.

any ideas?

Hi Jared

Welcome to Pistonheads!
Apparently there are poor rotorarms around. For more information see this thread from earlier today or try the search function.

Is the cap a lucas too?

missmatching of different manufacturers can be a problem as can a weak coil.

Always replace the rotor arm and distributor cap at the same time and make sure they are the same make...teacher

If it is worse at higher temperatures then I would suspect the coil.
