The White Horse at Sandway is closed until Easter, so we need a new pub to meet at for March and April Sunday lunches.

We will be trying The Smarden Bell. Apparently this is easy to find by taking the road to Smarden as you leave Headcorn on the A274 going south. Drive a mile or so along this road, and you will reach a halt sign. Turn left, and the pub is on the right.

Might be a bit sleepy after working Saturday night but hope to see a few there!

Bought my first TVR 3 weeks ago.
Used to live in Smarden and the Bell (a superb 15th century inn) was my local for 15 years. Still go back there now and again as they have some excellent real ales and I am only 20 minutes away now. The Bell has been the home of classic cars for about 20 years and there was always an excellent turn out of motors.
If I get time off for good behaviour, will pop down in my Cosmos Blue V reg Chim and look forward to my first TVR meet.

The Bell is exactly 2 miles from my parents house, and I worked there for about a year to fund my petrol habit I had at 18 when driving my Mk1 Golf Gti....

As Brent has already said, the previous land lord (Ian Turner) used to have regualr classic/sports car meets usually on the 1st sunday of the month. From memory the meets left when Ian did, so I'm sure the current land lord (Craig) would be happy for a new meet to start !

I can't make this weekend, but may well be able to make next months meet.

I will try and come along, I used to go to the Bell years ago for the classic car gatherings in the days when my dad had a 1929 Bentley!

The weather will have to be good though, my wipers aren't working at the moment!!

Hope you can make it soon as you can buy me a couple of pints to make up for all the short measures you used to serve!!! You must have made Ian a fortune!. He still lives up the road towards Biddenden - I see him now and again.

I think I remember your Dad's Bentley - an amazing machine.
Get the Rainex out and take a trip down memory lane. Ian Turner may have retired but the Bell is still an excellent pub.
Hope to see you there

From Cranbrook. We'll try to make it but may be a little late.

John

Edited to say... change of plans means that we won't be able to make it this time round. Hopefully will be more sociable next time round... keep us posted on where the next venue is.
