We're off to Blackpool on Sunday for a Monday morning factory visit - to do the final spec for my Tuscan S. Although this is my 3rd new TVR i've not 'done' the factory visit before.

Any advice/things to do/things to look out for?

Yes - when they say "you can't go in there" or "you can't photograph that" - make sure you gets some pics to post up here!!!

Gerry,

Well worth the visit. I went to take a look at my new Tuscan S on the 14th Feb (by the way will have tomorrow...sorry) When I got to the 'line' my car was right at the end so I was very lucky.

Lisa who does the tours is a 'star' and will take you around at your leisure. I forgot to ask to see the 'motorsport division area'...so you might wish to ask her. When I was there they had the T440 out with its engine running...lovely car.

Take a look at my profile to see the pics of the factory...and my 'baby'!!

Its a incredible set up...so enjoy!

Alan.

Just out of interest - what's the best way to arrange a factory tour (who's the contact at the factory?) - it's something I've been contemplating.

Yep, it's well worth it. I went round when I took the Griff "home" for some work and Lisa showed myself and the girly around the factory all on our own. Lasted over 2 hours in total.

You have to see the motor sports section. We saw a Speed 12 (not the one now on sale, this was fully raced up) and a load of technicians messing about with a Tuscan R of some descrption.

Also of interest is the area where the instruments are calibrated and set up. Saw a (road) Tuscan speedo unit in the raw - it's an impressive piece of kit even if the stepper motors on that one where sh@gged!

Just phone reception and say you would like a tour, you may have to wait though as I think they are only doing tours for people with in-build cars.

Look out for all the speed cameras around Blackpool.
There are at least four on route to the Factory and several on the prom

All rides are £1 this weekend in the Pleasure beach
Have a good time

Got invited to a dinner in Blackpool by a supplier on Sat night. Drove the Chim from Derby & arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm ! mmmmmm the smell of wet shagpile ..... Although Sunday started with a hangover, driving down the promenade in glorious sunshine past the tower was as near as I've come to a religious experience !
Parked on the front to take the girlfriend on 'the big one' (!) & this bloke came over & after 30 seconds of inspection told me he had helped build it, managed to resist the temptation to to give him a list of niggles I'd like him to fix ! He was actually a sound bloke. All in all a great day.
