Had the dreaded windscreen replacement done today and though the guys who did it were careful and knew their stuff, a small amount of damage was caused to the nearside screen-pillar lining. Basically, the cable saw used to split the bonding caught the very edge of the lining where it wraps around and returns under the black screen edge. It wasn't obvious unless you were looking for it but I knew it was there and it would annoy me. So, I have effected a neat and easy 'fix' (i.e covering up) by working a length of rubber piping (I used soft 5mm bore moped fuel hose) into the gap between screen and pillar. It is tight and you need to nip it in a quarter an inch at a time but it will go and leaves a neat bead that actually looks better (more 'finished') than the rather heath robinson original appearance.

Leave a few hours between screen installation and doing this for the poly bonding agent to cure.

And no more milky edges

sorry if this has been done before

Had mine done on Friday at Autoglass in High Wycombe. 100% perfik job. They mentioned something about removing the windscreen surround trim before getting to it with sharp implements.

Took ages to vaccuum the glass bits/debris out of the car though - and the screen wasn't even shattered!

Milkyness free, but for how long ... it is nice not having to look at the road through millions of stone chips.
