TVR TO STAY IN BLACKPOOL
There was good news for fans of gluey smells this week as TVR announced that it is to continue making cars in Blackpool. The decision has been a long time coming, something insiders attribute to company boss Nikolai Smellyski having end of term exams to get out of the way, but now that an announcement has been made the firm was keen to reveal its future plans. "Blackpool isn't just TVR's traditional home," said a source. "It also has the facilities that the company needs. Specifically, the Sunny View B&B which is where we will be based from now on. We will be putting the chassis' together in room 3 and then rolling them down the corridor to be trimmed in the Red Rose lounge. Obviously this is a smaller facility than we're used to and as a result production will probably be somewhere around one car a month. This is exactly right if we're to keep supply at the same level as current demand".
However, another TVR insider has hinted that the decision to stay in the Lancastrian seaside town wasn't as clear cut as it might appear. "In truth we were all ready to quit the town," he admitted. "Unfortunately, on the morning we were due to leave we discovered the battery had gone flat. No sooner had the AA come out and got us going again then the electrics started playing up, and then we'd barely got to the M55 when we overheated, and then it was getting dark and one of the headlights didn't work and…" [cont'd pgs 86 - 239
Another stupid jibe at TVR.......Anyone thatvalues the marque (and their own investments)should find this rubbish offensive. NS is funding a business venture that is need of massive re-inventing and investment. The marque had reached end of its shelf life and to talk about the good old days is simply ridiculous in the cut throat sector of UK sports car manufacture. The business is in the process of change, and things will take years to impliment.Mistakes have been made but how many businesses get things right first time round ?

Hmmm... Who's had a humour bypass then? SniffPetrol.com is a micky take of all things motoring, not just TVR.
It's comments like yours: 'The marque had reached end of its shelf life' that are far more detrimental to both the perception of the company and value of existing cars.
IMO

But how close to the truth is that statement. Sometimes we hear thing we dont want to, but the facts are quite obvious now that TVR are stuck in the old factory, the Sagaris is not selling to the volume TVR want, very few models, reliabillty Image problem that sticks like glue, A once niche market thats been swamped by the big boys with cheaper cars that have similar power and more toys, no direction as to what type of person they are aiming at. I cant see anything except gloom and doom for TVR, and i am an owner who thinks very highly of mr car.
Tvr's problem is how do they get bums in seats in a ever shrinking market place...

Stuff...
As lordgrover points out sniffpetrol.com is just a spoof news site and the article is just a parody of all the usual journo crap that has been spouted about our beloved motors for years, and as such, I found it very funny indeed.
To own a TVR one must have broad shoulders and laugh in the face of those who ridicule our beloved cars. It is a way of life that we have chosen, not because of what the press and nah sayers have said to us, but because of what the car has said to us…”Wring our bloody necks and we’ll give you the ride of your life”. Nothing I have driven has ever come close to that feeling of exhilaration and excitement that I still get after more than 3 years of ownership. If that means accepting the odd mechanical and electrical gremlin then so be it…ever owned a Hardly Ableson, Fezzer or Masser? They are even more unreliable but still enjoy full order books, because the passion for the marque will always out way the negatives if the product is good enough...and they are!
NS is (allegedly) investing in TVR’s long term future and I for one applaud him for looking at the long term future.
Where he is failing us is in his method. He needs to box up that clandestine authoritarian approach much loved by the Russia of old and post it back home and embrace the western marketing culture. Accept that enthusiasts and potential buyers think of TVR as their own (a public company) and need/want to feel more involved and that means more investment in marketing and formulating a strategy to turn all the free press its getting (all be it negative) to its advantage.
What I am getting sick of, is that every non enthusiast I meet thinks TVR is closing up shop and is no more, this misconception and inevitable uncertainty for potential buyers is what’s damaging TVR not the usual slapstick negatives that we all know of old, and this is what must be addressed and that is down to NS not the press and nah sayers.
Oops…rant mode off…I’ll just get me coat…

Whereas what you have written is just sanctimonious twaddle after a major sense of humour failure! rolleyes:
Sniff petrol is hilarious and the TVR articles are as funny as any of the others.
It's a joke - geddit?

Everybody has different opinions a bit like doctors. Markow47 is passionate about TVR, Bluebottle's TVR talks to him, i believe TVR are vulnerable more so now than ever. I think most people over 3 years old know that Sniff Petrol is taken with a pinch of salt. you choose to lay into people with opinions, Everybody is an expert...with opinions so dont be rude..

Well thanks a whole bunch.Thats another few thou of my residuals and another few customers put off.IF Pistonheads is at all influential of course.
Personally I think one good review in Autocar is more helpful to the marque than any 'informed' post on PH.

i bloomin hope not - considering whats on the drawing board in this office.
September the 27th issue page 49, titled Classics among us , last 3 lines. I know its just an opinion but is'nt most journalism just opinions.
And im no doom monger more like a realist and personally i cant see where TVR fit amongst the cut throat car industry, The Germans seem to have all quarters sewn up in the new TVR price range. The Sagaris in my opinion is far to extreme for the bigger market and TVR are i think to big for the small volume market place, being somewhere in the middle is suicide i am afraid, and what with plumiting residuals potential part ex customeres are hanging on to what they have.
So after all is said and done i tend to agree with the artical.
Lets just hope Autocar are wrong...
