Hi

Does anybody know of any tracks in the Midlands where you can arrive on spec and have a drive?

I want to take my Tuscan around a track and can't be bothered with the "organised" track day events.

organised track days are not that difficult to attend... several companies do last minute things as well.

DGW67, you can take your car to Bruntingthorpe at pretty short notice, but you'll need to arrange it beforehand. I called a few days before and everything was fine. Unless it's changed recently, you're required to book a minimum of two hours at a pre-arranged hourly rate.
If you go during the week, the circuit can get busy with various manufacturers testing hardware.
You're given a radio in case you have any incidents, and left to do your own thing- obviously observing the site rules, provided at the gate when you sign in.
I'd borrowed a T350 while my Tusc was being fettled and wanted to get the feel of it on the track to compare with my car. I went a while back on a Wednesday evening. Some guys from Triumph were doing some high speed tests on the straight, but they disappeared around 5.30pm, leaving me alone on the track for two hours. Delightful!
Hope that helps
Pete

Of course the thing that an organised track day gives you is marshals, first-aid, ambulance, cones at turn-in points, instructors, other people to chat, coffee & tea etc.
