There seems to be a very good rapport amongst us TVR drivers. I have never driven past someone else without them waving or acknowledging each other as we pass. However, I like to extend this to other marques of British manufactered cars as I think that to some extent we are all addicted to supporting British made sports cars. Some people seem to respond when waing to them but others seem much more bemused and unwilling to give a wave back. Am I just wasting my time or do other marque drivers think that they are superior to us TVR types?

You can't expect to wave to the driver of a modern MG and get a wave back - they're just confused by you.

I find owners of classic MGs and Jags respond to a wave. The difference is that it is an automotive enthusiast behind the wheel...(has to be to own it)...and they are more likely to recognise your TVR for what it is and consider your wave friendly and therefore respond...

Don't get me wrong. I don't tend to acknowledge the more modern cars. I'm talking about some of the classic drivers.

I wave at any modern or classic sports car drivers and, generally, I always get a wave back. wavey

What would be great would be a PH wave or signal so that I can give a cheery hello to another Tivver or sportscar enthusiast even when I'm in the boring daily car, without them thinking I am some kind of loon! It is one reason I have my TVRCC sticker in the estate & not the Griff - It's the "my other car is a......" syndrome

I regularly wave at other "classics" or anything to be fair that I deem to be a bit special - particularly when out on a very good weather day, or more often acknowledging someone else mad enough to have the roof off when it's almost but not quite raining. Could be anything from an Austin Healey to a Caterfield or the like.

As you say, some stare at you dumbfounded, but most by and large wave back. Notable exception was one chap local to me in a Volvo estate with "My other car's a TVR" and TVRCC stickers on the back. I had followed him for a while, overtook him when he was doing 40 in a 60, then he pulled up alongside at a little set of village traffic lights (him turning right, me going straight ahead). I have him a big grin and a wave and was met with a scowl and two fingers... last time I smile at him then!

I'd like to hope that it's an old codger who's bought the car and hasn't been bothered to remove the stickers yet...

Even in a Volvo, a TVR owner doing 40 in a 60 isn't going to happen.

I find *most* TVR's that see me will flash lights or wave. I've also had thumbs up / throttle blip acknowledgement from Lambo's, Fezza's and bikes. Conversely, I've been given puzzled, p1ssed off & blank looks from some TVR drivers I've been past - I guess they're the ones who've just had a big fuse go the day after a 2 grand service hehe
On a similar line, I've often noticed that in my Cerb I rarely have to wait to pull out into busy traffic compared to driving the mundane - people go out of their way to let you out, especially if they have something performance-y.

Me too! yes
If it's a car (or bike) that suggests to me that its owner is proud of it, then I acknowledge that with a wave...usually returned.

Edited 'cos although I can wave...I can't spell!
