Hi

Does anybody know what BHP the 4.1 V8 from TVR puts out?

Reason being I am thinking about buying a Westfield fitted with a TVR engine, It was built by Westfield in 2003 and the guy had them install this engine from a write off with NO miles on the clock!
Westfield themselves said it was in a different leage to their own Seight rover V8,s

I have read somewhere it turns out 325BHP can anybody confirm?

And the other Big question, Will it be reliable? as I have heard a few bad things about TVR,s

Never heard of a 4.1, possibly and more probably 4.3.

Could depend I suppose what era TVR it was from.

As for the power, the stated power for a 4.3 griff was 280.

So unless this engine has had major work from the factory,(doubtful) it wont be anywhere near 325bhp.

Not to understate the motor though.
In a small light car it aint going to be a slouch is it?

The only real way to see what it is , is to strip it and see whats inside,i.e bottom end,rod types, bore/stroke and then heads(porting, valve sizes)

Hope this helps, I think its too easy to be sold a "TVR" engine and expect something with all bells and whistles.....

Oh yeh , never thought of anything other than a RV8..

Maybe if we could see some pics we could of course ID the engine.....

That would be about 360bhp IIRC

It is more than likely a 4.0ltr RV8 that has been bored to a higher CC?.

Wonder how the TVR managed to get written off with zero miles on the clock?

If it turns out to be a TVR 'Rover' V8 (4.0) then expect power to be in the range of 220bhp to 275 bhp.

Note that very few 4.0 engines would expect to see 275 bhp

Funny you should mention V8 Westfeilds, was looking at the Westfield factory site at self build kits and the Rover V8 option caught my eye, would make a great track day car, especially with TVR breathed upon Rover V8s, as for AJP8 Westfield, would love to see that, someone somewhere must have one!

It was run up the back with "minimal" miles on the clock about 125 I think. The guy said the rear end was level with the dash seemingly! Ouch!

You must surely know if it is an AJP 4.2 or an Rover RV8 4.0? (350 - 360 for a good one) and 205 (real bhp (not the b*llox TVR numbers) for a 4.0 RV8) respectively.
