Everyone..
I have a meeting tomorrow at Brunters to start organising Mania and wondered what thoughts (sensible if possible) you may have to make everyting go with a swing (was going to say bang but thought better of it).

Given the amount of people at Duxford eg 500 cars 2 people to a car = 1000 people, if as many attend this years mania - its going to mean awful long queues for the individual rides and events, so will we be allowed to look around the planes.

One idea I have come up with is to issue everyone with tickets for the runway and have them done in timed sessions throughout the day. This would stop a back-log on the circuit...

People need to remember that Duxford is an active airport throughout the day and that we always had to wait until the last plane had landed at about 6pm before we could have use of the runway.

Apart from that to keep people occupied plenty of TVR related specialists need to be invited to display their wares/services....

- May be difficult to co-ordinate, but what about the parking arrangements. Mania 99, the Taffia Trilogy, was parked by region, that could be worth a go, or parking by model?

- Pit Stop Challenge? What about on a tuscan racer, and do it in teams, possibly by region?

- Something for the kids to do - mine is too young for anything above perhaps a bouncy castle, but it'd be good to keep those not interested in the cars busy - makes for a better day for the mums and dads...

Great idea with timed sessions - means no having to loiter for ages waiting for your turn!

Also, the more stands for me to fritter away my money on, the better (willstartsavingnow).

Are there going to be opportunities to test drive the TMS demonstrators?

Edited to say: really like the idea of parking by model.

couple of ideas.
Have been to couple of big car shows, and a few thoughts sprung to mind.
The car park organised by car colour looked bloody brilliant.
There was a serious lack of stuff for the kiddies to do so a bouncy castle and maybe a even a small fairground could be beneficial. Also plenty of toilets for the masses are required.
The more stores for people to look around the better.
What about a concours competition for the less enlightened, polishing freaks.
How about a side by side sprint track on one of the shorter runway sectiosn giving 0-100 times in a run-what-ya-brung style?
What about getting TVR themselves to bring down a few show cars, speed 12 race cars that kind of thing.

I'll go get me flame proof underpants on now!!

Here's a few to add:

* Have as many of the race teams there as possible - given the Rockingham is one week beofre and Thurxton one after some teams maybe busy repairing cars but would be a good way to promote the series etc.

* Have one of the Le Mans T440R cars if not both of them there as a static display.

* Have the factory bring out the Speed 12 GT if it's not been sold by then - maybe even have that blat up the runway as an exhibition?....

* A raffle (money to charity etc) for the rear wing from one for the T440R's piece of TVR history and all that.

* TVR merchandise stands/stalls inc. memorabilia TVR postcards/posters etc.

* Companies like Leven, ACT encouraged and tell them to bring plenty of spares !!

* Drive in a Tuscan Challenge 2 Seater

* Driven by Steve Guge, Jay Shepherd (or even Michael Caine if you really want to scare people) in a Tuscan.

* err..... brain hurt will edit and add more later !!

Invite the Marcos/Morgan/Noble any other British car clubs to put on a guest display.

Much as I'd like to bring my Porsche and wind everyone up we will be going in the Chimaera....(cowards I know).

Look forward to this one !!
as far as trade stands are concerned, i've now attended 2 national events, both of which were as far as i am concerned were very sucessfull, but i would suggest that trade stands are categorised, by this i mean all the upgrade specialists together, dealers together, Insurance companies and so on..? so that punters can find what they're looking for.

How about getting a professional photographer on hand to get 'the' perfect picture of your car?

Can then be framed!

Food (hot) throughout the day, not just at barbeque time.
