I was a little confused to see this bit of news from the TVRCC Berkshire. I thought TVRS already was Steves business, surely it was the progression of the Thames Valley Race Services which he ran from the back of the stables in Twyford/Hurst? Rich...

Steve Howard has left Thames Valley RaceTech and is setting up his own company.
His business will operate in the Berkshire area, new premises are still to be sorted out.
Steve as you know has a lot of knowledge of all the range of TVRs so any work or servicing can be done at a more realistic price.

I think he took on a business partner to handle the paperwork side of things, leaving Steve free to work on the cars. Guess it didn't work out.

It was. I don't know whether what happened next (move to Sonning Common) was a partnership or selling of the business or what. Sometimes in life, stuff doesn't work out the way you thought/hoped it might though. Coupled with that, history has a habit of repeating itself.

Accordingly, you will be pleased to know that Forest Stud in Hurst will again home to horses that are unfazed by the loudest engines on the road! Things should be up and running again in a week or so.

Along with the most irritating double gate opening entry thing. Oh well, at least it's nearer...

We should be careful that this thread does not go on to cross Ted's line on posting etiquette.

I personally always wanted Steve to work on my car, because he has vast TVR experience, runs the race team and personally sets up the Tuscan racecars. (In my opinion).

I will continue to go to Steve with my car.

I can't comment on Thames Valley post-Steve as I have no idea what they will do or have done to fill the void left by Steve. However, I do genuinely wish them the best of luck.

As a moderator I will be carefull with my comments, however since Steve took on a partner (and I believe ownership changed) the company had expanded and as in all such cases changed - not neccessarily in the right direction for some people.

I've used them both pre and post changes and can't say I'm surprised by Steve's decision.

To my mind Steve Howard IS Thames Valley Racetech whatever he calls himself in the future and I will use him - if he'll have me as a customer.

If anyone wants my views mail me off line.

Cheers,
JSG.

As a previous TVRT customer, I've done just that. However, your email server appears to be "bouncing" the mail.

And, rather rudely, I seem to neglected to "sign-off" the mail in a suitable manner. Sorry! (just in case you do receive it).

They seem fine, my car is back with them at the moment; running rather hot after a full-on 24k service. Mail me through profile if you want my experiences.

FWIW I intend to revert to using the factory in the future. I usually live in Lytham St Annes near Blackpool and have used TVR for work in the past. They have spotted and sorted clangers by so called "premier" dealerships (not Thames Valley I hasten to add)

Oh, and a 24k service in Blackpool is about £560 - commpare that with southern dealerships!

Dave

Edited to point out this is a Griff 500 service.

Just to fill you in on Steve's latest venture/s (I've just got off the phone to him)...

He's now working with a couple of guys in a newly formed company (probabaly calling themselves Precision tuning or racing or something) locating themselves at Forest Stud. They are doing TVR and other specialist car servicing. I'm not sure about their charges but I would imagine they'l be more resonable than other places... go along and ask.

In addition, Steve and I have formed a new race team for the Tuscan Challenge.. we've called it Insane Racing. Previously Steve has run my car under the Thames Valley Racing/Racetech banner but we're taking a whole new approach, so hence the new name. We've got Darren Dowling on board and also have plans for another front runner (in the pipeline). Steve will be responsible for everything mechanical (as is his talent) and my job is to run the team (and drive as fast as I can on the circuit without falling off!).
This year (for the 3rd season running) I'm pleased that Inweb are sponsoring us and will be attending every bar that we frequent during the course of the championship :-)

In addition, this year we are pleased to have support from the TVRCC Berkshire and will be placing stickers on the cars. If any of you Berkshire guys/gals want to pop in the awning for a coffee and a chat, please feel free to introduce yourselves.

First race is at Donington on 5th/6th April.

When we've got the insaneracing.co.uk site up and running we'll keep you posted with results etc.

Here's to a great season, in a great car.... TVR!

Cheers

Wayne Phelan
TVR Tuscan No.5

PS.. bit of inside info.. Peter Wheeler's running a 350 in the championship... sshhh.. I didn't tell you!

Great to hear about "Insane" you could not have thought of a better name, the very best of luck to you all. Wayne, don't you think you are being just a tiny itty bit optimistic to think that you can keep your car on the black stuff, I mean, mate, you've had more off's then the word fcuk!!!!!! and what's this about PW driving a T350 in the TVR Tus..... (whatever) Challenge, come on ,who told you this bollocks. Who ever it was must be either very astute, and without doubt a brilliant driver, or a regular visitor to planet Zog, I take it that as a true gent and Tuscan driver BAS,T,ARD's.Hons you refuse to name your source, on pain of death ,of course!!!!!

well I don't mind saying I went to visit Steve one sunday afternoon, my bloody Griff hasn't been the same since, everytime I start the bugger up it nearly blows my fence down, neighbours shake their fists at me and dogs run away whimpering. When I drive through town it pops and bangs and generally behaves like a lager lout

Good point Ed,

I'll be back in the awning anyway - and those bloody gates at Forest Stud - any chance of automating them ?

Cheers,
JSG.

Anyway no time for drinking. You should be cleaning seats.
