A good point Rob, but how much of it is do with the economic climate ? - are other marques still selling well ? - I honestly don't know. What is certain, is that people have lost confidence and then faith and now patience with the ownership and management of TVR. They have basically been playing hangman with themselves with their contradicting press statements and now the noose is tightening.

Yes, the financial climate is having an effect on all markets, but I don't think producton has been this bad for a long while. Two cars a week, by the time you factor in holidays is less than 100 cars a year.

TVR has more competition now that it probably ever has, and having moved the brand "up market" the range now starts well above the minnows (MX-5, MR2 etc.) and a good but higher than the more mainstream competiton such as S2000, Boxters, Z4s, Z350s, Elise etc.

I think we should be applauding the fact that NS (or some other manager) has had the balls to finally pull the plug on the UK manufacturing operation and jump ship to climates cheaper. Let's not forget the build quality of our (sorry these, as I've sold mine now) cars, we're not losing out on the world's best builders here, so it's only the personal and financial issues we need to worry about.

Nikolai Smolenski is a Russian banker, president of international private bank Investbanka AD Skopje. I think his in the list of 50 rich people in Russia. Well his family is. Come on he can afford to waste money. y Ok they might be only selling 2 cars a week. But what’s around the corner. And whs I know its not the way to run a bossiness, but I read article about nikolai when he first saw a tvr. It was the same as every one else. He fell in love. And want a car. Then want to own tvr. How many Mclaren f1 where built. Thery never made money. But they made a diff to the car industry. Any way what the point of tvr damageing the brand name and saying they going to moving to new factory and then moving back. Then saying there 3 new cars coming out. And now saying they going to move to europe. way don’t they get them self’s in order. and sort them self’s out. and get public trust back in to the brand. and the reason im so fed up about the move. Is because United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland what the biggest waste of space. Yes we were great long time ago. but not in my life time. Im 25 got my own company. And i travel all over the world. and you know what, im a shame to tell people where i come from. Because UK is nothing to be prod off because it has gone to the dogs. what have we got to be proud off. look at Germany and the world cup. did you see the stadiums they had. pissss all over Wembley. And some of there stadiums where 12 year old. I driven tho Europe and the town and villages you see wow. And the people are so nice and will bend over backwards. go down my local town. get a drug dealer trying to knick my car. (but its ok he had a hard life the good to to who sits in our government) ok yes im going of on one. But im 25 and im thinking of selling my company and moving away from this country, ok start off on about tvr. but the truth is there no car manufacture who wants to build in this country. UK is all about the £. And does not mate about how that is made as long as it the most £ is made . Well I still buy TVR. I got the s all ready and a griff. And I will still buy a model each year until the sag. And Knowing a business man as Nikolai Smolenski is. I hope this is not a trick. To get the gov or council to help them. Because they have really damage there name.

May I suggest
With sports exhaust at the ready, I think I will take a ride up to London tonight and drive up and down Mr Smolenski street alnight just to remind him of the BIG MISTAKE hes about to make. May I also suggest that the boys from the next london tunnel runs change their route to include Mr Smolenski street.

The downturn had started before that, Cerbs build at a loss, the initial problems with the AJP V8 the ongoing problems with the Speed6...

Much as we love PW for he unique approach to business, we should also be realistic and acknowledge his faults, as it's those two qualities combined that made the cars from his era what they are.

PW was no saint. He had run the company into the ground as well, soured relations with virtually every single supplier and employee except his little bitch Ben Samuelson, and didn't seem to care one bit about modernising the plant, lowering costs, improving quality, helping the dealers, or keeping the customers happy. All he did was use the company as his piggy bank, and actively shopped the marque for an outrageous sum for several years.

Only NS was stupid enough to actually buy it for the outrageous asking price, and delusional enough to think he could manage it with ZERO prior experience.

The company needs completely new blood. Lots of it. When NS is ready to sell it. And that doesn't seem to be on the cards yet.
