Let's wait and see what is presented at Geneva...
Like we waited for the Motorshow this summer?I wouldn't hold your breath if i were you.I'd like to say i cared, but in honesty i gave up long ago.TVR have been a great sportscar manufacturer from the past, for a long time now, for me , i'm afraid

I dont think TVR will last if they leave UK what do you think?
I'm not sure that there was any reason to be confident that TVR would last if they stayed in Blackpool. If moving to a new base in (so today's speculation has it) Turin, Italy is linked to securing the funding necessary to meet the various compliance regulations for emissions, safety etc, thus opening major new market access, then the future might look far more secure for the TVR brand. Not 'TVR' as we know it now. But a new TVR - British grunt designed by Stile Bertoni - sounds compelling. Now I'd like to be the advertising agency that gets that assignment!!
TVR may still be beautiful if they continue production (finding it hard to believe anything foreskins has to say right now) and they may still be fantastic, but for me the magic will have gone!
When I get round to buying the wedge and hopefully a Griff/Chim later, I dont think I'll be parting with them!

Yeah, but let's wait first, we could all be shocked...
But what did we get at the Motorshow, consolidation of the number of cars produced, new better seats, prices that reflected costs (Ok not ideal for customer, but good for the business), tweaks of problem features (the Saggy's ejector bonnet) and other quality issues addressed. Not as exciting as the vaunted Cerb 2, but all good steps in the right direction.
I'll wait until the full facts of what has happened come to light..
I'm a patriotic chap and alot of the appeal of a TVR was that it was a hand built British car made by British people. (and probably why i never worried that each car was slightly different from the next... cause you could picture the guys and girls in Blackpool putting it together)
Its why the Italians love Ferrari.. Its about Passion and Patriotism combined with the product.
The germans are about engineering excellence.. Its very different.
I remember watching a film about cars featuring Porsche and Ferrari with interviews with top people from both companies.. The difference in culture and approach to the cars was quite eye-opening...
Its why the Japanese can build the most phenominal technological cars with huge power and amazing lap-times etc but they just have no 'soul' compared to a British Sportscar..
So cutting to the chase, to many of us there is more to TVR than just a car that sounds great and goes like stink.. Its the whole package, and where its built and by who is part of that..
Some may not understand that.. but those guys will no doubt drive BMW's and Porsches.

hmmm...weren't some Chimaeras produced in Malaysia? Wouldn't be the first time, they outsourced production then.
No, they were destined for different markets (Australia, Far East). It just so happened that they were so good that PW found it cheaper to import them and rebadge them as British-built cars (some were then sent on to Japan, where "Really Made in England" is very important :rolleys
than to try and make them in Blackpool. It may have ended up as an outsourcing of sorts, but it wasn't meant to be from the onset. Edited by orgasmicliving!! on Friday 20th October 06:30
if I had a spare £50K in the cupboard, I'd get a black Sagaris in a heartbeat. TBH, it's been kind of a miracle that one still can buy a car like that at all, brand new, in this day and age, and there's a not inconsiderable chance the opportunity is not to be repeated, ever. The last thing you want is to live in a world full of government GPS-controlled electric milkfloats and wonder 'why on earth didn't I buy that TVR 15 years ago'...
If I were to buy the thing on finance with a hefty balloon on the end of the three year term, though,... erm, lets see, NO...

All depends on what happens with the warranty...and design
I have been looking to buy over the last month or so, I will just wait to see if the dust settles.
What will happen to the design team now? My biggest draw is the look and the sound of the car, will this change if the creative team becomes italian, russian...

So... Why wouldn't some people buy TVRs if they weren't built in the UK?
Is it because there are better cars that aren't British build? Are they too expensive for what they are? No longer fast (on straights and around corners) enough compared to the competition? Not build well enough for a non-UK car?
Me I can't understand it, a good sports car is a good sports car wherever it originates from - if it ticks the right buttons and makes you smile then it does the job in my book.
But, the British were fooled in buying the drivel from MG Rover that scurried out of Longbridge for years, we still supported Jaguar through some of it's worst years and still managed to support our car industry before it finally passed away, so I guess I shouldn't be that surprised.

I agree with you... I don't get it.
There was absolute bloody uproar when Aston was sold. Years later, they make a profit for the first time....
