Car at the factory
Discussion
I currently have a Arancio Orange Sagaris somewhere in the factory (2007 shell)which I believe has been sprayed but not gone into production yet.
I know it is a difficult time for anyone going to the factory and everyone there but if anyone could gets some pics I would be very grateful.
Can I just pass on my best wishes to all at Blackpool, as this is my third car and I have the utmost respect for the guys and gals who have given me such great cars, and I wish them all a positive outcome.

I'm going to have to piggy back on this thread. I also have a car in limbo on the production line right as we speak. It's a Chameleon Green Sagaris with Black and Purple interior. Again if anyone visited the factory in the past two months do they remember seeing mine?

Jeez, I feel really sorry for you both.
To have your Saggies so near and yet now so far must be so frustrating.
I also read in another thread, although I don't seem to be able to find the quote, that some of the staff are refusing to finish cars on the line.
Interesting though that you both have Saggies waiting....I thought, according to all the rumours on here that there were no British orders going through......just goes to show how wrong rumours can be.
I take it you have both tried contacting the factory.......what was the response?

Have tried to get a better idea of what is happing via the dealer but, as would seem to be typical, reliable info is hard to come by.
I can understand the workers anger and frustration at the situation, and their reluctance to finish-off half produced cars, having been made redundant myself in the past.
I understand there is a dealers meeting due early in November and perhaps there will be an update then. Meanwhile its a case of sit and wait......

Well, you're in the Midlands, so I think, if it was me with a car stuck mid line I'd take a cheapie flight to Blackpool and check it out personally.
If you have a car in build they are gonna have to come up with a blinking good excuse not to give you info on it.
Last time we flew from Stanstead to Blackpool it cost a £5 each return!
Cost more for the car park

My dealer is being as good as he can. I ordered in August and have been through so many stories now at this stage that i really don't know whats going on. It was 'delayed' when they were 'moving' premises. But then it was back on time. It was due within the next month. I know they were doing the interior about a week before the 'news'.
I too feel very sad for the staff but alas it's a catch 22 because i am also desperate to get my Sagaris that i had been planning for for about two years
How far along would the interior trim be on the production line? I dont know what order everything goes on!

Sounds a horrible position to be in. Was it a 2007 spec car? If it was, that could become a serious collecters item so it may well be worth the wait!
On the other thread YP mentioned, the factory worker also mentioned no work had been done on cars for several months. If you're sure your interior has been done then I'd also question the reliability of the other info he gave (such as refusing to finish cars).
From factory tours and production pictures I've seen, the interior is pretty far down the production process. I can certainly remember seeing painted shells with most of the mechanics completed (drivetrain etc) with people working on the interior and dash.
I just hope that despite their difficult situation the workers see this as an opportunity to demonstrate exactly what they can do and build you a great car!
Deejay ~ I sure hope so. I was going to buy from a dealer but the factory promised me on many occasions they would complete the car to my exact specification. It is indeed a 2007 spec car but with 2006 seats as that is what i specifically wanted. It went into build on the 30th August and i have spoken to the dealer and factory since. They have assured me it's in build and i was even contacted by the factory regarding the interior spec a few weeks ago as they were about to start. Its gutting knowing something i spent so long thinking about and picking out specs for is just sitting in the factory 'nearly' finished.
They do have 260 workers so im sure alot of them were sitting around doing nothing as my car went into production basically the minute i put the order down. Apparently that is. Thats why both of us would like to know if anyone has visited the factory int he past month or two just to know if anything was on the production line. Though i don't see why Tvr would gain from lying about them being in production for the past two months. And taking our orders in the first place.
A very confused Tvr (hopefully) Owner

See, that's the thing I don't understand.
We have been hearing from the workers.....that the workers have been sitting drinking coffee, playing cards, etc with nothing to do, but when we went to Back Home the production line was full.
Mostly Left hand drives it has to be said.
I can't believe that all those cars were waiting for parts.

Thanks for that Slinky.
I was hoping to go to the factory and take some pictures of the car during production - I for one am very proud that the cars are (were) made in England and after visiting the factory when my Tuscan was in build I couldn't believe the skills on show.
I would still like to get the photos but can't image a tour of the factory is much fun for anyone.
Like Funky my dealer has been very helpful and I can only imagine their frustration as I believe they have about six cars they are waiting for!
I will keep you aprised of progress.

My VIN number ends 1061...for a car delivered 1st April 2006. Looking a VIN numbers on cars on the Production line at Back Home in July were about 1089 or there abouts...Which tends to back statements of 20-30 cars in 12 weeks...2 or 3 a week unfortunately.
I'd be interested to know the VIN numbers on more recent cars??
Mine took 12 weeks from order to delivery...about 8 weeks on the trim/final assembly line (where most of the work is done).

See this was said when the move was onto Squires Gate but that was stopped a while ago and they went back to production in Bristol Avenue. So that statement dosn't hold up. Plus it can't be the first italian as it's in bristol and i will NOT wait for the car to go over to Italy and go into production. I said i would wait for the 'relocation' but they screwed me around with that one so i'm not gonna listen to another so called 'move'

Unfortunatley my experience when dealing with the dealer is that the info they get is often not accurate, they themselves on many occasions have asked me to call the factory direct to get some answers. If I were you I would call the factory direct and ask to talk to someone senior (director level) and get some answers, then proceed to call that same person every day until you get the answer you want. This may sound OTT but honestly its been the only way for me to get answers re: parts, engine rebuild etc also if someone says they will call you back get a time and date I don't think anyone has once called me back from TVR when they said they would.
Good luck I hope it all works out for you

I was in Blackpool a couple of weeks ago with Mrs WR, and decided to have a look at the factory, and noticed through the large half opened roller shutters several half finished unpainted cars on the assembly line.
To me,(and it was only an impression) the place looked quite run down and deserted but it was around 4.45 and most of the staff may have gone home....

I was at the factory last Thursday. I actually bumped into NS outside, had a quick chat and then he invited me in! Got to admit it did not register who I was talking too at first! AND I really was expecting to be told this was not a good time and that I could not look round the factory. In the end I was shown round for by a guy called James, I think?
Anyway, if Arancio Orange is a bright orange colour, then I saw it in the production line area. I think it was minus engine and interior, but not 100% certain of this. Sorry

Funky - I do not remember seeing your car. I am sure with that spec it would have really stood out!
I did see x2 finished LHD Sagaris, both minus roof hump. Also, in the production area the LHD Sagaris for the Belgium Dealer with hump.
Overall, there was not a lot going on. Very quiet, but maybe it was due to next week being the factory holiday.
Cheers, Andrew
