got a chance of an ajpv8 from a cerbera at a good price

should this just drop into my tuscan race car and use all the existing ignition system etc

or is there more to it than that

i already have a rv8 about to go in which i picked on the basis of cost futere availability of parts and the fact that i thought the car would be just to fast with the ajp
but i am begining to have second thoughts
many thasnks

Just as fast with the AJP, you gotta be having a Giraffe, the AJP is a different animal, loads more power and torque than a RV8

Not sure if he posts on here any much now days but do a search for 'Grant Tuscan' or somesuch name, he had one of the very few road going AJP8 Race Tuscans. I think Steve Howard(sp?) prepped it.

Won't 'just' drop in as I understand it. The race AJP is dry sump and the bigger wet sump on the Cerb AJP won't fit without a wee bit of work. I'm reliably informed though that you only have to move a couple of lower chassis cross tubes to allow the motor to fit. But it's got to be the route of least work compared to a Rover (unless the car originally was Rover powered) or Chevy as everything else should fit/connect

It's a bloody nightmare. Nothing is the same, you might as well be fitting a completely different engine. I did this conversion once and I'll never ever ever ever ever do it again. Right royal PITA. I asked around after i'd got half way into the job and one race team running road ajp8s in their car said they wouldn't touch it for less than 3k labour costs. knowing what i know now i realise 3k is a cheap quote!

I don't recall Steve Howard ever saying it was a nightmare, and he has put several road car engines into Tuscan racers. Grant Wardrop (2 different engines), Grant Crouch, Shane Antill, a two seater race car, not to mention his recent AJP8 Escort. A couple of chassis tubes need to come out, modify the swirl pot to get round the front pulley, make use of the race car engine loom and ECU if you have one, race car water pipes, throttle bodies, airboxes, exhausts....

I can't comment on the cost - but I'm sure Steve would be happy to give you a quote. Its far cheaper than installing a Rover V8

APM will know how to fit an AJP to a tuscan racer.
