I have just read in autocar that if you change lanes just once between 2 sets of SPECS cameras they cannot CLOCK you, they have the technogly but the goverment will not pay for this, You can only get nicked if you stay in the same lane.......

There are always signs up saying do not change lanes when there are SPECS cameras around so maybe its true

I stand by what I said the first time, I hate that this information has come out, now that ppl think they know a loophole they will only be encouraged to use it. Now Im no great respecter of daft speedlimits myself and I confess I loathe SPECS roadworks on the M25 and M1 at present, however, I respect what they do and what they are there for. Speed limits in roadworks are something that I almost always try to obey, they arent arbitrary, they are needed and it is just plain selfish speeding through them. Ive been on site in m-way roadworks and suddenly the pic is a whole different thing from their side of the barrier, esp when there are narrow tolerances. 40mph is a lot f**king faster when its your flesh n blood versus 2 ton of Ford Tranny!

I think SPECS in roadworks are a good thing. The whole "you spend your time looking at your speedo, not the road" argument is spurious aswell, a pt if we are honest with ourselves, we all know. We dont spend our time monitoring our speed, we tend to stay at the same speed as the traffic flow because it is self managing.

I agree that speed limits in road works are there to protect the work force and I generally try to stick to them if there are workers present and in a vulnerable position but the problem with speed averaging enforcement systems is that if your speed creeps up above the limit you then have to adjust it to well below the limit in order to preserve the average speed. How many people are capable of performing that mental calcualtion while driving, assuming they know how long their speed was above the limit. This encourages sticking rigidly to the speed limit which means constant monitoring of the speedo.

In light of this loophole, could such signs not be considered entrapment?
