Scottish dealership
Discussion
I've also heard this, but also heard that in the past they have said they wouldn't touch TVR with a bargepole
I had heard that Murrays where in negotiations, but that seems to have gone quiet (they would be a better fit IMHO)
If they do get it, that would be cool, as I currently live within 1/2 mile of them
OTOH, they are one of the reasons I bought a TVR instead of a Porsche. That's probably all I can say without naming & shaming....

Glenavrigill are building a nice new, rather big, dealership at the Fort Kinnaird retail park. It says "Porsche" on the front at the moment, but is far from complete, there'd easily be room for more names!
Which gives scope for lots of speculation -
The new one looks easily big enough for a multi-franchise operation - but then so's the Colinton one, surprisingly. Or they could stick with Porsche out of the new one and keep Ferrari at Colinton. Or Add TVR to Colinton. Or just TVR at Colinton. Or flog Colinton (must be worth a few quid to a housing developer, there).
Etc etc, variations on the theme ... speculate away!

For some reason I'm on Glenvaragill's mailing list. Not sure why as I stopped using them for Porsche stuff years ago, and haven't had a Porsche at all for nearly 4 years.
Anyway, just received their latest glossy 'The Boar'. Apt title [phonetically anyway] for a Porsche/'rarri/'rati comic, but they'd have to get better name if TVR were included
Hey, might mean that they'd invite TVRs out on their 'rarri days at Knockhill, and that would be good.

Well they're good fun to watch, but I don't think I'd like to be out on track with some of 'em.

I saw one guy spin his (aptly named) 360 at the hairpin coming back across the grass & ending up coming back on track going the wrong way up the back straight
He did this for each of his first (and only) 2 laps...

My ears are burning!
Donkey day at knockhill is always a good day out, but sometimes it can be like watching an expensive version of the dodgems! Would be fun watching the Willie's yellow beast mixing it up with the ferrari crew!
Craig, good to hear from you, are you going April's meet? I could do with a high-octane buzz! (hint hint)
Rich, you should go to the next VW meet if you can, sounds like that last one was a bit special oh and O/T i will hopefully mail you later this evening. Cheers!

I've never bought a car from or been to Glenvarigal, however I was on the Logic mailing list. I recieved a copy of the above magazine today - concidence ?
I have been watching this topic for a while now and have only just remebered that Glenvarigill had a TVR dealership, about 8 years ago, in Crieff (sp). I went in when I was looking to buy a wedge and they had a lot of TVR's including a brand new, unregistered, wedge for about £28,000.
Kenneth.
Kenneth.
When i first got my tiv way back in 92/93 i
used to take it up to Crieff for servicing they were the Scottish dealer at that time.
Very expensive and if i remember correctly gave up the dealership due to the constraints placed by TVR ie; number of cars they had to take each month etc. so i
wonder what has changed if they are going to come back to TVR.

craig,
i'd watch out for moonie if i were you. i lived with the bugger for a year at university and (for some reason i'm yet to figure out) he's remained friends with me ever since. i left edin last summer to start work in surrey in the army and all he does is call me whenever he's been out in one of your fine vehicles and taunt me. least i can drink, mind!
i don't mind too much though cos he's still studying and i'll be visiting www.tvr-mads.co.uk before too long for a tax free tuscan. hee hee

Heard as much from other sources. Presuming of course it does happen, I don't know what location it would operate from though. Also, no idea if the plan is to re-train existing mechanics or pinch some from elsewhere. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hmmm, I went to talk to them today, and the guys there reckoned that both them & Murrays were both still in the running.

Excellent, as the showroom is about 1 minute up the road from here.
Despite turning up in the Chimaera, I still wasn't impressed with their attitude towards me, so I hope that Murrays do end up getting it....
They seemed completely uninterested in just having a friendly chat, talking about cars etc.

If you're buying I'll be there.
With only 188 posts I'm just an amateur by comparison.
Re Glenvarigill though, my understanding is they're the front runners. Can't comment on how they'll do with TVRs, but I did use them for Porsche stuff and the serviced the wife's Jeep a few times.
IMHO Scotland is actually fairly well served in terms of TVR Servicing - it's just that there's no showroom selling new ones. I'm presuming the new dealer will be doing sales and service, but maybe there's an arguement that says that all we're actually missing is the 'sales' bit?
WB
I bought my Tuscan S the week before Logik went bust so I hope the dealership is decided soon as I have a number of small warranty items and the 1000 mile service to get done. Can Glenvarigill or Murrays get a competent service department up and running in short order is the question? I'm new to TVR ownership but I can see that the car may demand more skill and familiarity than other mainstream cars.
