It does seem a damn shame to lose the momentum of yesterday. Perhaps the Car Club could do something, like a strongly worded note in the minutes of the next committee meeting?
A petition sounds good, but how about something creative and unusual? Something to grab headlines? There must be many creative people in the PH massive; unfortunately, I'm not one of them, as my partner will testify!
IDEAS, ANYONE?

I wrote to the Blackpool Gazette on Thursday, asking them to start a campaign to save TVR workers jobs.....The Blackpool Gazette has quite thoroughly reported the TVR situation (albeit sometimes miss quoting). A lot of national newspapers will pick stories up from Local papers....So why not flood the Gazette with requests for action.

A similar rally in London was suggested at some point, and seemed a good idea to me. It would also give those Southern owners who were not able to participate yesterday an opportunity to display their solidarity and support for the workers.
A hunderd Tivs driving in convoy in and around Westminster Square, up and down Park Lane, whatever. Likely to grab the attention of the media? (Possibly the police as well, so we would need to look into it in some detail), but there are sufficient decent BiB in here to offer some advice.
I'm sure there would be many volunteers willing to donate a couple of quid towards the cost of coaches for getting some of the workers down from Blackpool, and we could invite them to be passengers in our cars for the day.
Given the strong emotion i am still feeling from yesterday, i would be only too pleased to contribute to the organising of something like this.
What do you all think?

Well it did.
What, TVR changed their minds and have decided not to move?
Otherwise besides a bit of a thank you and pat on the back, as well as a bit of media attention I fail to see more long-term effect than a peddle dropped in the sea...
Tripps and any other people that feel that way - These guys are going through a 90 day consultation period. Nothing is cast in stone YET. It's all in the melting pot. At the very least the public support and media attention MAY sway management to offer a decent redundancy package over and above the statutary minimum. Whatever the outcome management will not own up to caving in to any outside pressure (they never do) however doing nothing will achieve exactly that......NOTHING.

No one has broken any world records with TVR's by the looks of it?

Sorry guys, but I can't see that you're going to ever make any difference to NS plans, noone will step in, the govt' don't give a crap. If they can't help the Fairpak (SP?) people, who now haven't got a Christmas, they're highly unlikely to come to the aid of the TVR workers, however passionatly we feel about it.
I am absolutely gutted that TV will no longer be in the UK, we'll lose another bit of heritage and, more importantly we'll make skilled, talented and perhaps irreplacable people unemployed.
We are a service industry now, we once showed the world what to build and how to build it, now we sell what other have made.
A very, very sad situation to be in.

Most TVR drivers don't need much encouragement to go drive through London taking in a few tunnels on the way so why not make it mean something?
