Having phoned for a quote on a potential purchase today I found that their underwriters won't cover my postcode (and many others) inside London now

I'd used ClassicLine a few years back when they were underwritten by Sun Alliance and they provided fantastic value cover, so I was shocked not to be able to get the same again.

Has anyone else seen this, and more importantly who is best now for classic, low-mileage cover?

Ah, that's a secret - just looking right now, it's intended as a 4th car, so getting the insurance at a sensible level is paramount.

Yeah Rob, spill the beans and will it be making the trip to Le Mans next year ?. Insurance-wise, try A One Insurance Services, as my policy went up £40 for the year changing over from the Chim 500 to the RR T350c, which I thought was very reasonable.

Well we assume it is a Tivver because of the forum. Had and loved an S so could be another, ruling out another Cerb as just sold one and ruling out Speed Six stuff, just because don't think you would risk the engine costing you if insurance price is a factor in it's viabiliy.

My money is on a Chim, similar to the S but avoids going the same route and some of them are looking like a right old steal. Could be a Griff but the Chims are potentially better value.

Am I warm?

Since I'm not likely to be doing Le Mans, then probably not I'm afraid.

Ah, just to confuse matters this isn't a replacement for the Cerb, it's my Plan B car, so I've got no no-claims to throw at it - hence the reason I'm looking at a classic policy.

You're right that it's not a Speed 6, can't take that risk for a 2nd toy car or justify that kind of expense. While having two fun cars seem perfect sense to me, I've not quite convinced the wife yet...

Even if it goes ahead it won't have happened by Sunday I'm afraid, so I'll be coming in the 172 - besides which a want to do some tyre kicking on the Plan A front this Sunday as there will be a few there

bounce

Woohoo, best quote had been £739 from A-Plan, after that Direct Line and others went from £950.

But Hagerty want £238.35 and don't need any no claims - new TVR here I come
