In light of the news about Gatwick TVR I was wondering what other people were considering to do about servicing. I've got an approved warranty (which already paid out on a new clutch ((fitted at Gatwick)) and I guess i'd like to extend it but beleive that the car needs to be serviced at a main dealer in order to validate the warranty.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Check the warranty wording, I thought the whole "must be main dealer serviced" was pretty much ruled as unfair and most became "must be serviced to schedule at a Vat registed garage". Maybe an "approved" warranty is more restrictive but worth checking, obviously if the latter then that would open up the use of Austec's for you given that I guess you are in that area.

Only Dealers can do warranty work.

Indies can do the work but they wont be paid by the factory.

Sorry

Shame it seemed from posts on here gatwick were out on their own in terms of service and aftersales. Any other dealers really worth the mention?

But that is carrying out repairs under warranty? Could you use Austec for general servicing and the bits you have to pay yourself anyway, but use the main nearest main dealer as and when you need to put something through on the warranty. I appreciate it might be more hassle than it is worth - for instance Austec finding something that needs doing that would be covered under warranty during a standard service and the car is already in bits - but theoretically would the actual servicing elsewhere void the warranty itself?

That is good to know although I don’t know how they would take to carrying out warranty items on a car supplied by another dealer in my case it was Gatwick TVR, knowing how little TVR want to pay them per hour. It’s OK if they supplied the car new as they made the profit on it, but otherwise I can’t see them taking to kindly to this.

Why not give either of they a call ..

Both are very professional and appreciate any new customers and would be fully aware of the Gatwick situation.

Racing Green have serviced and replaced parts under warranty on my car no problem at all - City TVR originally supplied it.

As I understand it, the point of a dealer nework is so that you can take it to your nearest dealer for warranty work. I took mine to Henley for some stuff to be sorted on a used car spplied by another dealership. And they've been great.

As for invalidating your warranty, you can take it to any garage so long as they do the services in accordance with the manufactures schedules and that they use the correct parts.

That's as I understand it anyway.

Not sure of the technicalities.
Best phoning the factory and asking for the warranty section, Pat Cumming will be able to clarify.
