Convoys - The Legalities...

A friend who works for the Police force asked a Chief Inspector (who used to ba a traffic cop) about travelling in convoys after having seen the small article in Sprint.

It turns out that convoys are in no shape or form illegal as long as the rules of the road are adhered to. The only form of convoy that needs to be made known to the police are ones where the cars might all be doing 20mph - like the London to Brighton steam rallies etc...

I have it on good authority that the next issue of Sprint will contain a detailed letter from a serving officer about the legality of convoys.

I've not read it - but apparently it leans towards the 'convoys are not illegal' end of the scale.
