Any advice? We may be moving over there next year and although I have no issue with travelling back over to Fernies or RG for work, it would be nice to know someone was "on the doorstep"...

Cheers

James Motor Sports, west of Canterbury on the road to Charing(CT4 8EZ). out in the sticks a bit but very good and cost effective.
There was a post a few weeks ago by a lady who on my recommendation had her Chim serviced there and she was delighted, with the quality and price.
Chris Baldock is the man, he's ex Walldonway workshop manager but doesn't charge their kind of prices.
Tel number is 01233 740407.
Does body work and mechanical

Dream Machines are TVR main agents at Heathfield (just south of Tunbridge Wells) and have done a few bits and pieces on my 97 Chim (stepper motor, suspension arm and waxoyl) all at respectable cost. I haven't used them for servicing yet as I had been using Fernies (where I bought the car) but it makes for a long trek. I will probably give Dream Machines a go next time as, even though they will be a bit dearer, the saving of 4 hours or so is justifiable.

I think they have some former Gatwick TVR chaps there in the workshops (others may be able to be more informative).

I used to use Gatwick but now that they are gone I'd use Dream Machines. They have a good reputation from what I've heard

Dream Machines are the local dealer and not too bad.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I saw an add in Sprint for Waldonway but wasn't aware that Dream Machines or James Motor Sports were that close. Sounds like I have options then - thanks again.

Cheers

PS: Looks like its going to be Ashford where we are going

Take it up the country to AUTOMEADON or get them to collect it!

Lol Austec is a consideration but, to be honest, if I was going to drive up to Automedon then I might as well drive over to Fernies or RG.....I was really just looking for one or two options for somewhere really local to Ashford should I get stuck..regular service work will still be done by Fernies and/or RG.

Anyway, thanks again - lots to consider, always good to have options!

All of the above will see you right

More & more of the locals are using Chris @ JMS & theres some very good feedback regarding his work & prices.

Walldonway still service TVR's & are very good.

Dream Machines are the nearest main dealer.

Austec - say no more, they service my car (Griffith) but also do a lot of Speed 6 work - but you know that allready

Hopefully we will be seeing you for a hoon sometimedriving

Cheers Nick,

I think Austec is favourite at the moment as I may need to talk to Paul about mapping my Tuscan anyway...if all goes well, we will be looking at a move around Feb next year but still in early stages as yet. Need to have another look round the area anyway over the next few weeks.

Thanks

Andy

Agreed. Paul and the team at Walldonway sorted my T350c out a couple of weeks ago after it developed a mis-firing problem. After checking plugs, leads, tappets etc the fault was traced to a corroded engine wiring loom. I also got them to change the engine oil over to the Silkolene Pro S and now the car is running better than ever - it no longer sounds like a bag of spanners on start up.

I did use Austec once but Walldenway are by far my preferred guys.
Paul really does know his stuff and I wont take my Chimaera anywhere else (even though its only a 400! )

Also worth looking into TVRfix in Cheam. Not used them myself, but having spoken to them last week about a car I was interested in they were very friendly and helpful, so I'll probably be using them at some point in the future.

Also not that further away but northbound is Leven, just over the Thames.

In case you don't know the area too well,Tenterden's nice.
And I see from your profile that the Tuscan is blue, so you would be most welcome

I've only taken my Chim to Chris at JMS once but he seemed to be a top bloke, really knew his stuff and will definitely be getting my business in the future.

I've used Austec, excellent service - really pleased. I might try JMS near Canterbury next though as it's not as far to go from Tenterden plus they're getting some good feedback from you guys.
