I'm after a soft top sports- having found i dont fit in Z3's, S2000's, etc i thought i'd try a TVR (i'd heard the stuff about wheller fitting in at 6'6-same as me)

But i dont fit! tried a Grif as my budget is up to 20k and i need about 2 inches more head room!

So...is the Chimp roomier or (more likely) is there a way of lowering the seat height of a TVR? Surley someone must have needed a bit extra?

Any help would be great!

Shame u can't afford a Tuscan. It's (only!) another £10,000 but I'm 6'5" and fit very comfortably.

If a Chimp's too small try a Gorilla!

It's a Chimaera! Or Chim if you really have to abbreviate!

I'm 6'7 and I fit fine. I took a test drive in a 5L with the roof on at had plenty of room. You can get the peddles adjusted as well, which helps with the 'knees knocking against the steering wheel' syndrome. I'm not sure about the Griff but the Chim is just fine, and for £20K you'll get a beauty...

I'm 6'4 and have no problem with headroom in the V8S, in fact with the seat lowered an inch I can even get in with a crash helmet on. I would have thought Griffiths/Chimaeras were similar (and I haven't had any trouble getting in them either) but since they have adjustable pedals, you may be able to move the pedals forward so you can 'slump down' in the seat more. I believe you can get shorter pedal boxes (nearer the driver) on some models so you might find the odd car that has much less roomo than normal. If you take the seat runners out you can drop the seat by about an inch. If you replace the seat e.g. with a bucket seat you can get yourself another inch or so lower in the car. Hopefully you will manage to work it out somehow!

I'm 6'6 and I've been confortable in my old Chimaera. Tamora is also just about fine - although I'm thinking of lowering the seats a bit...

Surely you can get the seats lowered by a freindly TVR specialist?

I'm 8' 6" and hung like a donkey. I don't care whether I can fit into my car or not.

If I could fit into a Chimp, I think I'd be arrested. Michael Jackson can do that though I hear.

Have the cars you've tried been modified in any way? I'm 6'8" and have had no problems with Chimaeras, Griffs, S, M, or Tuscan....?

Tiggsy,
Quite a lot of the cars have the seats raised, and the pedals adjusted forward, to fit the vertically challenged members of society. Ask the dealer to adjust the seat and the pedals. I'm 6'7" and no problems.

The passenger seat is not a good for large people (on the Chimaera and I would assume the Griff), as the footwell is shorter to accomodate the battery.

Edited to add - the Chimaera is 2 inches longer than the Griff, and I believe there is a touch more room (or at least it feels like that to me).

Andy.

Agree with all the lankylads here. 6'4" and room for a crash helmet in the griff! I concur that the one you tried was weird! Try another one... and make sure the pedal box is as far back as it'll go and the seat hasn't been hoiked.

noooooooooo, you guys are just having a laugh!

i've just got back from sitting in a 98R Chimera (sp), with the seat right back the chair was upright and my head was touching the roof- with the cahir forawrd a couple of notches to allow more recline in the seat my head was still to close and now my legroom was shot!

this car had no height adj., are some adjustable or is that a permanant mod you are refering to with seat height alteration?

Its a semi perm mod - there are some wedgey type things (hey technical!)under the seat which can be adjusted with a spanner - the pedal box can then be screwed in and out
