Yeah but..... 400 Loti at Brands Hatch isnt quite the same as 400 TVRs in Parliament Square/Whitehall.

Cheating by using a big car park at a race track? Where's the fun in that? evil

Could they not think of there own original idea!!

London Thunder was created (it seems) out of our passion for the marque and support for workers.

Lotus seems to be motivated out of publicity, or taking advantage of TVRs hard times -

even if they do go on to break the record it will not and cannot re-create the passion or the Noise

I think you'll find it's one particular dealer sponsoring this event rather than Lotus themselves, I doubt that they are taking advantage of TVRs hard times but will of course be motivated by publicity - that's what businesses do.

I don't think it takes anything away from LT, a passionate and emotional demonstration of loyalty, however, if Lotus and other British makes and their dealers want to stay in business rather than being exported abroad then publicity and a raised profile are part of what is needed.

But surely a meeting (and presumably a 'once round the track') at a race track doesn't qualify as the same as a convoy on a public road?

On scanning the article isn't that the engine size, 1600? I don't think thats the number of cars at the event.

So what if the Loti beat the record. Nothing like a challenge. It just means we'll have to reclaim it with another Thunder Event.

It would only take a couple of "other cars" to park amongst the line of lotuses, hence stopping a "single procession" and satbotaging the record attempt

Though I'd still be in favour of reclaiming the record with another thunder event. I'm pretty sure we'd have had over 500 with the cars that came straight off of the north circular to join the procession.

Classic & Sports Car or Classic Cars (I forget which rolleyes) suggests we had over 800 cars at The Ace, with the magic 479 passing the Guiness count line (or whatever......)

Isn't somebody suggesting a 1,000 car gathering to mark the 60th anniversary of the marque thumbup Bet it'll be in the summer when I'm a reet busy bunny - doh !

If we do another Thunder event perhaps it could driving past NS house ?

and with up to 5000 a year coming straight off the trains at Dover from TVR's new outsourced facility maybe we should do a Brands Hatch Thunder too laugh
