Car went into trimmmers for a new rear screen (torn thread and marked perspex). Trimmer managed to accidentally rip rear hood section while removing it from the hoop to stitch the new screen in place. Shucks. Only costing me the price of the material, but I am now getting a new rear roof section as well. I'm annoyed at having to replace a perfectly good hood ... hope it matches the front/top section.

Why are these things never simple???

Why are you even paying for the material????, Surely if the trimmer ripped it he replaces it??!!!

Should replace both bits. You might have a match problem.

i had the thread go on mine and then the perspex came away, i claimed on my windscreen insurance (it doesn't affect ncb). i was told it might rip when taken off but insurance said it would be no probs either way. cost me £50 excess

I think it's about £100 notes to replace the front piece (recover it) to match

Bad luck T/.

Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

The thread went on mine and it didn't even occur to me to claim on the insurance; I ended up restitching it myself. I might contact the insurance company and see if it would be covered after my 'temporary repair' efforts.

Just spoke with the insurers. The rear screen is covered under the window part of the policy, but only with one of their approved repairers ... not sure AJ Trimming in Bourne End is approved. Never mind.

when i had mine done, they tried to get autoglass or someone big to do it and i tried to explain that being a tvr it was very specialised. after autoglass then called and said they couldn't do it, my insurer said as long as they are vat registered they don't mind.

p.s forgot to say, i tried to restitch it myself with waxed cotton till i could get it repaired by a pro and it was painful and hard work, that canvas is very tough
