I've noticed that my front passenger side alloy keeps being damage on the outer most edge, as if it's run on the tarmac - always seems to have fresh damage and tar on it even in the wet!

The odd thing is that it is always on the same 25% of the rim. I have checked the tyre pressure - 20 psi

All the other wheels are perfect. I am wondering if my tyre is damaged or has a faulty side wall causing the tyre to fail during cornering. I am running 18" Toyo T1 R's on SP12's.

Any advice?

I thought the SP12s should run at 26psi all round?

Didn't know that. But does it explain the damage in the same area each time?

Nope. That is a bit odd.

Unless there was damage to part of the wall of the tyre so if it does deflect it would tend to do it in the same place. There could have been an initial impact that weakened the wall, maybe on a pothole or speed hump.

There's no way you'd frequently run the rim of the tyre on the road with a 225 on an 8" wide rim.

I wonder if there has been some damage to the sidewall of the tyre at the point where the marking to the rim is occurring? Can you feel the car doing anything odd through the steering?

ETA - 20psi is too low. 26psi is about right, whatever should be between 24 and 28 depending on how you like it.

I've spoken to Matt. He thinks it the tyres as well.
