Just drove to Stansted Airport from London and back and I counted... wait for it.... 9 new gatsos. (and I'm not counting the notorious 50mph gatso at the bottom of M11).

But that's not all... Its 1am, no roadworks to be seen anywhere, and all of a sudden there are 40mph speed limit signs everywhere?? No prices for guessing at what speed the cameras are set... (got flashed by the first one together with another 20 cars or so doing no more than 70. There was no 40mph limit there so not too worried as the 40mph signs only appeared a mile or so later. Really hope they don't put a few more signs around the first camera now and send me the paperwork?!)

Cameras being used for accident prevention? Oh yeah... I totally agree... NOT!?!?!?!?!?!?

And I take it they are setup as per government guidlines - only at accident blackspots and only for accident prevention.

Oh Absolutely... Only on the 'dangerous' dead straight section at intervals of about 2 miles. I can't see how anyone could ever have an accident there...
At least they are yellow?

Has anyone been given the "gatso" contract for the road to Baghdad?

Can't be the Yanks - so it must be the Brits.

I'd like to see the 'stats' for that bit of road, there have been accidents on a daily basis since these cameras went up. Apart from the lane change 40mph is way too slow for this bit of roadworks, cars gradually speed up because the road is straight and clear, they see a camera at the last minute coz it's hidden behind something, jump on the anchors and cause a pile up, I used to see it every day.
Still, nice little earner ay?

Just as an aside do you think that I could start selling ready-made packages to blow up Gasto's. I'm thinking a box with plastic explosive or fertilizer, balaclava, gloves, wires, detonator, actuator and instructions.

Just another 'get rich quick' plan from pss1 inc.

Sounds like a plan, when d'you want to meet up and 'research' these methods... there's a few 'research sites' on the A14...

Industrial fireworks might be the answer!!!! I think a 5" shell should be enuff, must remember to put a bit of slow fuse on it though!!! 3 secs isn't generally enough to get 400ft away!!!

Ought to look pretty too!!!

When I see smashed bus shelters and phone boxes etc I despair of our youth. 10mtrs away you see shiny new gatso's that are crying out for attention!

My thoughts EXACTLY! why DO they waste their precious time on bus shelters etc? We'd all have a lot more respect for the spotty-youth-of-today if they formed their own Tuf-Tuf club. Time to resurrect the 'Tufty' club perhaps?

What if we could persuade Nintendo or Playstation to come up with a 'Destruct a Gatso game' then they'd get the idea???
