So what happened at TVR???

I've been living in the US for almost 7 years and have not been keeping up with things, but I seem to remember a day when TVR had a full order book and a delivery time of about 6 months. Now it's all over. So what happened??. I recall the days of the wedge, then the S and then the griff when the company could do no wrong, the cars where getting better and better. Could the turning point be when PW decided to produce his own engine and start manufacturing most the of the parts under one roof? from what I've read it seems the quality went to sh*t and things got expensive. Anyone have any ideas on how TVR was killed off?
