I'm in Oxford and in need of MOT/service for my late 97 Cerb. Anyone able to recommend a good independent?

Thanks,
Tim

Thames Valley Racetech are in Sonning Common (near Henley). Can't comment on service as I've never used them.

I heard rumour that Steve has left too??

I live in Oxfordshire and (hopefully) picking up my first Cerby next week. I had a long conversation with Harry at Thames Valley Racetech last week about the car I'm buying, as they have serviced it in the past. He was extremely helpful - I mean really helpful and I intend to use them for my servicing....(also becuase they are the closest I believe!)

I live near Wallingford and I use a local guy, Richard at Arrow AutoCare. His number is 01491 837555. He has worked on my Chimaera 450 for the last 3 years both servicing and more serious stuff like diff etc.

Good guy and reasonable too.

Paul,

Do Arrow Autocare specialise in TVRs or general high performance motors or anything and everything?

Thanks
Jon

I've just had my chimaera 450 serviced by Topcats in Aylesbury and they were fantastic - the car is running like a dream. Also met Charlotte (gt and Tuscan racing driver) who has persuaded my wife to let me go for the day in the 2 seater tuscan racer! See page 17 of oct 02 sprint magazine.

I'm in the same boat - live in Oxford and looking for someone local to care you my baby.

I've heard good things about both TVRacetech and TopCats - think I'll give them both a go to compare and contrast. Only thing is I need someone that can do warranty work too - got to make warranty holdings pay somehow!

Harry is a nice chap and I have always enjoyed chatting with him when my car has been at Thames Valley.

However the main reason I used Thames Valley was for the expertise of Steve Howard, who left them a few weeks ago. Steve has years of TVR experience and currently supports 3 cars in the Tuscan challenge - that came 1st, 4th and 12th at Donington this weekend. Steve set up on his own in Hurst and I continue to use him.

I've said it before - I wish Thames Valley the best of luck in the future - but I'll be sticking with Steve.

Thames Valley may have replaced Steve with someone equally experienced - I don't know, you'd have to ask them.

I have used Thames Valley Racetech and have been very impressed with the level of service. My chim was in for its 48k service a few weeks ago when I found out Steve had left. But even so the car had a good check over, & Harry is very helpful.

many thanks everybody - been laid up with flu so haven't responded before! Does anyone have the contact details for Steve (ex Thames Valley Racetech)? it would be good to compare a couple of places.

Didn't know there were so many Tivs hiding near me (I live in the country out towards Watlington)...don't seem to bump into you guys much, although did spot a shiny Tuscan in the centre of Oxford on Sat evening. Anyone here?

Thanks,
Tim

Afraid I'm still in exile in deepest darkest Kent, Mr T. ALthough planning to land back in South Oxford late Sunday after the Tuscans at Snetterton. If anyone's about do you fancy an Easter Monday beer?

(That's when I'm back on the beer. Been off work today with food poisoning - bloody restaurant Saturday night - grrr...)
