Has anyone tried & succeeded doing a DIY rocker cover 'makeover'? Will be having cover seals replaced soon so seems like ideal time.

What do you fancy? You could polish them up, but you'd obviously need more free time than an IT contractor plus the patience of a saint. And some polishing kit.
You could paint them, but the heat would affect some paints. My car has had the covers powder-coated: I had that done to the previous Wedge as well. Works fine, but the choice of colours is a bit limited.
You can get chrome-plated ones, but they're (IMHO) more suited to something with a small-block Chevy, a wide back axle and a metal-flake paint job.
Think I'd see what colours of heat-resistant engine paint are available and try that: should be cheap enough to shrug off and have the job done professionally.

Good time to check on the valve clearances as well.

Had mine done in the same colour as my car. £50 or there abouts. DJE in Nuneaton so maybe a bit far for you. Easy to clean as well. Piccy in my profile somewhere.

Eh? I thought they were hydraulic/self adjusting. Unless you thought he had a TVR engine ...

I shoudl have clarified, the tappets don't need re-setting but the valve lift can go off.

I live in sunny Nuneaton, but have never heard of DJE, whereabouts are they based, are they TVR experts or more of a gen tuning company?

Most definatly a Rover V8 expert.
Attleborough Fields Ind estate
He has done a few TVR's and fine job on mine. See my profile for what happened. I lived there for 9 years or so and didn't know he was there until just before I moved back to Wales.
Look at his web site, the Chimera on the front page is a beast, it is sprinted.

Thanks for the info,I have had look at their site, and will pay them a visit in the near future.

I don't recognise the green chim though, I have only seen one other in Nuneaton...and that is purple.

Hope you enjoyed your time in here!

hmm not bad. But what I'm thinking of doing - if I can - is (after a good clean up) mask off all the non-purple asrea then paint the rest, keeping with the original finish.

Off to Halfords in a mo.

Steve

The green Chimera is in Wales. If you call by DJE, leave your wallet at home.

Pure coincidence. I assume he did his home work or had DJE recomeded. His car was done before mine and had a lot more work done.
