I was a bit distresed to see a 1999 Chim go through Barons auctions and only make £7595! The car was reported as good by Classic and Sportscar (March 07) does anybody know this car? The general feeling in the magazine is that the factory closure has had an effect on residuals do we know how much and what our cars are worth percentage wise compared to 6 months ago?

Why would the closure have an effect on the residuals of a Chim? IIRC TVR had sold off the rights to parts for that model some time ago.

Maybe more to do with January not being an ideal time to shift a Chim through auction. (All the golfers are on winter break in Spain.)

Agreed. Buyers might want to think the factory situation has had an impact on Chim residuals, but sellers will know otherwise.

Auctions will always achieve low prices owing to the impersonal manner in which they are sold.

Plus there is a public perception that cars that pass through an auction house carry a number of faults and could not have been sold using any other retail media.

Please do not view this as an indicator or market pricing.yuck

Best wishes all.

That inordinately capacious Chim derriere is handy for carting loads of vin rouge back from Le Mans every year!
