Spent Saturday morning at Racing Green having my wheels re-balanced on their new-fangled computer-controlled machine. Must say Martin did an first class job. Somehow (don't ask me how) the computer can detect imballance in the rim and the tyre separatly and it suggested rotating a couple of the tyres on their rims, one by 45 deg' and one by 90 deg'. This done and all 4 wheels re-weighted they are now perfect. Funilly I have always had a slight wobble at 80+ so clearly they were never fitted correctly in the first place by Micheldever. All in we spent 2 hours working at getting them right, a quality of service you would never get at your local tyre fitter. This of course suggests that I will source my replacement tyres from them, I think they said a Toyo would be around £145 which seemed reasonable? Nice one RG Rich...

How much was it for the wheel balance? Normally a new tyre will have a balance point marked on the tyre that should be aligned with the valve.

Had mine done at RG about ten days ago. I thought it was just psychosomatic at first, but it definitely feels better. Was quite a bit out (but not unexpected for a 70,000 mile car, I suppose).

I think that the cost should be £150 plus Vat

Only trouble is it could cost me an awful lot more, having been out in a Tuscan

Cost was £50 but well worth it, and yes I know tyres have markings on them but clearly ones local bodgit and dodgit don't worry about these!

You didn't go the whole hog and get the geometry checked as well? Racing Green did that on my Chim and found that it was way out. Adjusting each corner probably added thousands of miles to tyre life on the S02s I had just had fitted.

they seem like a great bunch down at Racing Green. me and a mate popped in last Saturday afternoon just for a looksee, they fixed the broken boot catch on my Cerbera for nothing, and polished out a scratch too!

good effort - must have been seeing Scottie's Tuscan parked outside that got them going - all that maintenance work up for grabs!!

£50 for wheel balancing we charged £2.50 a wheel, thing is with balancing is that in the first 1000 miles your tyres will have worn in and need rebalancing again to keep them that accurate.

I accept your comment but I did have Micheldever re-balance them after a few weeks, but they didn;t do a very good job - all I'm saying is that RG did a cracking job which was a million times better than previously. R...
