Somewhere to stay north of Le Mans -recomendations please

I am heading to Dordogne in the Tamora this summer, via Calais/Boulogne. Looking to break the journey with a stay over somewhere north of Le Mans. I'm sure someone can recomend somewhere, chateau or hotel. Thanks.

The Lion d'Or just off the main square in Gace is a very simple French hotel but I have had some excellent meals in the main restaurant. Very old fashioned but very good food. Not sure what the rooms are like, I would think very basic but it might be worth a look.
