Yes, the hard part is done. I have decided, or better yet said I have become obsessed with the idea of owning my first TVR. So I come to you to ask WHICH MODEL SHOULD I BUY? I know this will generate a lot of opinions, but that's why I am here. My total budget is £30.000 and whatever insurance will put me back. Yes, I could dump the whole lot on a relatively young car with the TVR warranty or get something less expensive and do some upgrades with the extra cash. What I want in a TVR is to do occasional runs into London city, sunday drives on B-Roads and deliver on the track for trackday weekends or even a trip to The Ring. If I have to emphasize anything it's a TVR that will give me the most on the track which is still reliable for road use.

Thanks for any input. And as an outsider I am truely impressed by TVRs reputation and the enthusiasm of it's owners.

For the kind of journey you mention, and battling with London traffic, from experience the V8 can get a bit hot, so for that reason I'd suggest Tamora or T350.

And a warranty can be purchased easily from a specialist company to give you piece of mind. Even the AA will give you warranty cover. Just use google to find someone to help you.

Hope you find a Tiv that puts that all important grin on your face.

I'd have a turbo oil burner for work and a SC Griff for fun.

I do however think that the Tammy is probably the most underated TVR

They will all do what you want them to do. Its down to what you prefer;

SP6, AJP or RV8 all deliver the power in a different way, so you need to test drive them all to see which floats your boat.
Then, are you the type to fettle your car? play with suspension setups, brakes etc. or do you want a turn key option, if the latter then the Tamora is a good value for money option. If you want to to play about with modding your p&j then the Griffs and Chims are perfect for this and huge fun on the track. Oh and I drive mine regularly in London and the heat issues mentioned earlier aren't really that bad (find one with aircon and its no problem at all).

You are going to be spoiled for choice with that budget at the moment!Go for the latest model you can as the build is generally better ( although there have been some exceptions) and don't worry about the town and country thing.Most Tiv's are happy in traffic although the compactness of a Tamora or T350 has its advantages hustling down backstreets. I have tracked my T350 and its epic.
