On page 17 of this weeks Autocar is a article AGAIN about TVR going to the USA where they have orders for 2000 cars, and they recon they will sell 250-500 cars a year in tne UK. They are still going to be useing the SPEED SIX engine, (about time we had some good news) as it is the best engine ever made.thumbup thumbup

How can they have orders for 2000 cars when this has only just become general knowledge ?

I thought that was hype from the new "owners" and implied they had dealer commitment to buy 2000 from their "45 dealers", rather than firm customer orders. Either way it sounds like total BS.

Yeah. I can see it now. "Hi, potential dealer. We 'might' be buying TVR and we 'might' appoint you as a dealer. Do you want a share of 2000 cars (unmade or even thought of yet) to sell to an unknown market place?"

"Mmmm, yes please."

Think over a number, double it, times it by three, minus the number you first thought of plus 1900 = 2000!

It's called creative accounting.

To be honest, if you read all the various press articles over the last week they have all reported a different story and all appear to have mis-interpreted many points.

I suspect that the error lies with the lazy journo.

It is isn't it, I thought the point of making it was to have it exportable to the USA. Around the time of the Swordfish movie and all that?

I belive that your summary of events is unfair. You know who, if its who I think it is, has already demonstrated his abilities.

Unfortunatly his demonstrable skill levels do not appear aligned to Market Sector growth.

Nice to meet you and your good lady at Blackpool BTW.

Or how about: we will be buying TVR, would you (and 99 others, America is massive) be prepared to sign on the line to take 20 cars a year to secure your franchise?

These guys may be thinking way bigger than you might give them credit for.

The 250 in UK - in the same breath as 20-25 dealers - is of more concern. That level of quota is not enough to justify a franchise. The same is almost certainly true in the States, so made the States was "you and 49 others" and 40 cars a year...

I think this issue is less of a problem than federalising the cars.

Before this all went tits up, I spoke to the managing director of a main dealer, and he said there was already a network of dealers willing to take TVR sales on, and potential sales of 5000 cars a year in the USA alone. That was in November. TVR has an incredibly positive image abroad, so someone getting rights to build and sell a TVR branded car is on to a winner, IMHO - and the Septics won't care where they're built, just that they have an English heritage.

If what they say they are going to do and what they actually do are the same, it will be a first for TVR for some time.

There is currently a thread running in this section called "TVR's US Plans" or something similar

Covers all the basis and explains how the majority of whats being said looks like unadulterated bollox

Sadly
