So : What was your favourite sports car and why did you buy a TVR ?

OK - I'll start.

Always lusted after cars like the Countach and the AC Cobra but real ones were really out of my league at the time or in the case
of the Cobra was really 'just a kit car' ...

So - for me TVR offered a Cobra style car that was more practicle and you did not have to build it your self. It was also British - which was pretty cool too.

I always wanted a Ford GT40, and I will build one one day! driving

I got a TVR because it was the closest thing to the "pure" driving experience I could get. No electronic crap keeping you on the road. It may not be the fastest of cars but when I get that corner spot on at least I know it was me who did it, not some spotty 17 year old computer geek who wrote the traction control and stability program.

My favourite sportscar would be probably the Jaguar XK140 or a proper AC Cobra.
I bought my Tuscan because I went to look at a Griffith.

Hi,

Mines was a Porsche 356, which I saved for for a long time to get and loved it, then some pillock woman driver ran into the back of me and had to look for something else. That is when I fell for Louis (My tuscan). I figure if I speak to her nicly she will look after me.

Had the dream Ferrari - sold it to fund a place in Spain

Got a cheaper 911 Carrera which was great, but it had a roof

Went back to a Griff because it didn't have a roof and I can't afford another Ferrari yet!

However, one day THIS is an itch that definitely needs scratching I'm afraid!

As a kid I drove MGB's but always dreamt of owning an E Type. Began saving when I was 19 and by 21 had £5.000 which in those days back when dinosaurs roamed the world was a lot of dosh and would have bought a pretty well sorted Jag.
That money went on as house deposit so carried on dreaming. I had a couple of 3 series convertibles and Boxsters. Always loved TVR's but was put off with all the ignorant leaky unreliable death trap labels. Saw one in a crash with an Allegro and the damage was terrifying. I was too ignorant in those days to realise it was superficial and just the bodywork all over the road.
Then my hubby introduced me to the Tuscan and after a test drive I just knew I had to have one.
Three years on and still grinning.

Probably an Aston of some sort.

Always liked TVR's from mid 70's motor show (450SEAC) and 3 years ago my wife said about passing Cobra "don't you fancy something like that". Cobra not practical but V8 essential therefore TVR time!!!

About 5 weeks later I'm the thrilled owner of a 450 Chim. Still absolutely love it.

Can't help but think - he must have been a fan of the computer game - out run.. and Maimi Vice..

Ferrari running costs always scare me..

Talking of running costs - the recent EVO magazine article on the P1 company running costs was fantastic.. just wish they could have given even more details..

They shouldn't. Mine cost me less to run than the last Griff, the 911 or, what's looking like, this current Griff!

The big 12s are granted more of a potential drain than the V8s but ... cloud9

yes ... yes ... and yes!

In fact, me and Vic had this conversation last night. She said:
"If we suddenly came into £50k out of nowhere, you'd probably go and blow it on a car wouldn't you?"
"Not all of it" I said, "but probably most, yes"
"What about thinking of your wife and daughter?"
scratchchin "you're alright aren't you? "and besides, Gabby would love it"

It was a two viewpoints destined never to meet

Always wanted a Countach in either White or Black and later a Diablo..(but swaying back to the Countach again)
That and a Ferrari 365 'Daytona' Spider...

Got the TVR cause i love the raw driving experience (and have always loved the noise) plus its great to own a car that alot of people i know do the 'ooo does it Break down? i bet it uses alot of fuel...' thing..
Oh and i feel like i'm doing my little bit by sticking my fingers up at the Police State Anti-Fun Government...

Ahhh, dreams vs reality.

After seeing the opening sequence in the Cannon Ball Run at the age of 10 there has only ever been, and can only ever be one dream motor - Lamboughini Countach. Funny thing is 15 years on i finnaly got my chance to sit in the Lambo at a car show and guess what. My 6ft 2 inch frame didn't bloody fit weeping I believe that it might be possible to adapt the seat mount about an inch lower and i could always drive it lying down....

Like the rest of you, TVR's rough diamond charm and f**k the system attitude won me over and when i saw the Griffith at the Motor Show in 1991 (i think). My baby, a 1992 4.3BV Griff, is a wonderful thing to own. I don't think there is any other marque (despite the current debarcle) that gets such respect from other petrol heads, yet remains an attainable dream for most.
