Hi all,

After the house move has settled down somewhat, I finally got round to emptying the garage and seeing if the P&J would fit in ok. Pic below shows it did so I am chuffed with that (and, yes, I soon took the bikes off the wall to ease my paranoic fear of them falling off during the night......)

I am still using the Mothers stuff from that nice chap Nick at MaxxWaxx and finally got round to using the carnauba wax paste - smells luverly and goes on/comes off really easy with little to no elbow grease required. The finish is really, really good too but I don't think the pic below does it enough justice.

All I am waiting on now is some of the reflections top coat stuff which is supposed to give a really nice, deep lustre/shine - has anyone used this on a dark colour (pearl) that can give me their opinion?

I don't think I will be going back to Meg's, that's for sure...

I've used it on a Black Pearl. It's good stuff, as is the other Mothers stuff.

It goes on and off just like a normal polish.

ETA Pic. Still shiny even after the drive to Blackpool:

Grover - it was honest to goodness, proper, stand-on-me guvnor, elbow grease.....don't need none of them newfangled automatic buffer thingies with the Mothers stuff, dead easy to get a great finish.

You just need a bit of carpet or foam on the wall where you open the door ..

Quite right Alan, I will get round to that this weekend along with some way to tell me when to stop moving forward - hanging thing from ceiling or timber-stop on the floor maybe, will see what works best.

Cheers

Don't worry, the ladder is rock solid and has little to no weight on the brackets. The bikes were another story.....

Andy,

looks good! My car needs cleaned and waxed, the last and first wax was in 2002, or was it 2001, so must be due for another one. Oh and I cleaned it 14 months ago too!

when are you free? laugh

Thanks John! I switched over from Meguiars products a short while back after reading about the Mothers stuff on here. I bought my gear from www.maxxwaxx.com and use their clay bar treatment (once or twice a year is recommended I think), 3-stage treatment (pre-wax cleaner, sealer & glaze, carnauba wax paste) and am waiting on the reflections top-coat for an even "wetter" finish.

Cheers thumbup

Have used Mothers for the past year and it works a treat. The 3 stage process took me 5hrs last summer, and is due again now, but the results lasted for ages. Highly recommended.
