I've just pulled onto my drive to find a leak from my front left Nitron. Its a oil like fluid and drips about every 15 seconds.
Any ideas as to what has gone and how to fix it.
thanks

If the damper is leaking then your only option is to get Nitron to rebuild them.
There isn't that much oil in a damper and it's hard to believe it will keep leaking for long at that rate. Are you sure it's coming from the damper and not just dropping from somewhere nearby?

thanks lads, No its deff from the Nitron. it was making a noise today as i went over speed bumps.
So is it a big job to get them sorted by Nitron? or is it just a minor thing?

Erm... easy job, whip them off, get Nitron to rebuild them, put them back on, find Nitron haven't rebuilt them right, whip them off, get Nitron to rebuild them, put them back on, find Nitron haven't rebuilt them right, whip them off, get Nitron to rebuild them, put them back on, find Nitron haven't rebuilt them right, whip them off erm........
Sorry, got hacked off with Nitron over the ones I had fitted to the Cerb - took them four strikes to get them right. Never again.
Sensible answer is yes, they do need rebuilding, you'd be wise to get them all done and they'll need to be taken off to do so...

Sounds like a common experience!

Crikey, that doesn't sound at all like the Nitron I know and love. what were your problems exactly?
hi Joo, Its was good to see you again the other week.
Like i said mate, front left started making a little noise as i went over speed bumps, then today as i drove onto the drive i saw a trail of oil on the floor.
As i looked under the car i could see it dripping from the shock ( very fine oil).
Is there anything you can do?
Thanks mate.

Hi Lee .. yeh send me an email and let me know how many miles the dampers have done, if it's not many we can get that one damper rebuilt, but if it's over say 6000 miles it would be adviseable to have that pair of dampers rebuilt so they're both at the same performance level. I'll get vocky to call nitron and organise it. cheers, joo.
This is the main reason I always recomend that you don't throw your old shocks away (or put them on Ebay) Monotube shocks are not immune from having the odd leaker, indeed I tried to set up a car on Ohlins the other day only to find both rear shocks had virtually no compression at all and needed a rebuild.
I would budget for a service on monotubes every 2 or 3 years to ensure top performance is maintained, or every year if you are involved in motorsport.

Hi Lee,
Sorry to hear of the problem with the Nitrons. They can't have been on that long, maybe 3 years, you should have the receipt somewhere. I do remember that Joolz had the rears off and back to Nitron for rebuild as they weren't quite right at the service around May 2005. So I recall that they were fitted the Autumn before that.
Hope you get it sorted without too much hassle, epecially as spring is here and we all want to be out using our P&J, amd LeMans suddenly doesn't seem that far away.
Cheers - Dan.
