This month's Sprint - has two superb articles on TVR.

One is the meeting held in a London Hotel - with Smolinski, Oxley and the 2 new American owners.

In my opinion - NS does not come across well at all, where as the two new owners not only seemed polite (considering what they were saysin (to NS)) but combined with the other article by Marshall Moore .. both seemed to come across very well and by that I mean that they seem like a much safer pair of hands to be in charge of TVR than NS.

They seem to have done their home work well and seem like they have plenty of car industry knowledge, with plans well afoot.

At last - I think TVR might have a future : as well as 59 3/4 years of it's past.

What did you all think.

There are a number of customers of the two US gentlemen in question who are not happy with them at all......rolleyes Therefore who is to know how good they will be?

Anyway, a TVR not built in Blackpool will not have the heart and soul of current TVRs. The chances of me buying another new TVR in the future are zero.

All IMHO, of course.

Sorry. TV....who.

TVR ceased to exist in 2006.

The last model made was the wheeler era Sagaris which was produced during a Russians tenure of the company which ended in its total collapse and shafting of its loyal Staff.

Does anyone really think that a pseudo American directed Russian owned company will ever have any credibility in the UK again.

Hey - I'm the first to admit that I was pretty sure TVR was dead unless some new 'millionaire' stepped forward with grand plans..

Very interested in any background history of these guys - guess we had best keep this fairly positive..

From the article - their plans seemed to differ a lot to Smolinskis.. and their prices werre reasonable and not just 'lets sell at 100K+' rubbish..

Yes - it will be a smame it's not built entirely at Blackpool or even any of it .. but I guess all that is now in the past and we should just move on.

If TVR did come back to the UK then all should be OK in time.Over here is where it should be this is where the loyal customer base is, anywhere else TVR and its owners can go take a running jump.
A Trevor is British and don't anyone ever forget it long live the British TVR.Our Merican friends are welcome to build TVRs here in the UK. I feel sure they would get the support from British customers.PS "dont bring the dip shit with you or any other 5 minute wonders"!start with a clean sheet.teacher

TVRs 'loyal' UK customer base has been deserting the marque in droves since 1998 or so, while folks over here have been teased with reports about one spectacular new model we couldn't buy after another for most of hat period...

"Not a single person who sent in a deposit on a street legal Evo has ever received one, even though some of them paid years ago. EI hasn't yet cleared a single car for street legal use in the US. Yes, they have delivered some cars to satisfied buyers, but these cars were for off road use, usually either as dedicated track cars or rally cars. If this is what you want your Evo for, then go ahead and buy one. If you are planning on using it as a daily driver, just buy a regular Evo VIII and mod it until it can run with a MR. If you order from EI, you will more than likely not receive a fully street legal MR for years, if ever.

I, for one, wouldn't risk my money on a company that has proven time and again to be untrustworthy. The stories that many posters tell about their experience with Evolution Imports does not inspire confidence in the company or its promises. Lancerforums/Evolutionm is where many of the people who have ordered from EI heard about the company, and out of all of the people who have placed deposits not a single one has received what they had paid for. With all of the controversy on the boards surrounding the EI case, one would expect at least one person to come in and say "Hey, I got my car and it's great!". This has not happened yet. Even the most ardent supporters of EI admit that they have not received a street legal Evo yet, but they all have high hopes for the future. This is more than a little-nothing. This is not something nitpicky like "My car came in scratched" or "I sent in my money for stickers and it's been two weeks and they still haven't come in", or even something more serious like "I ordered a GSR but got an RSII". This is very, very serious.

EI still has not cleared an Evo VII for street legal use. They have submitted a petition to get the Evo VII legalized, but the outcome of that petition is still up in the air AFAIK. If this sets any precedent for the timeframe that they operate on, an Evolution VIII MR won't be legalized for at least 2 more years, or around the time that the Evo IX begins production. The choice, as always, is up to the consumer, but, considering the number of people who got burned by EI, one would be wise to stay away for now.

Page 30 of the thread. Interesting read on the history of Evolution Imports That link (in the last line above) is http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthre which is from the EvolutionM forum.

EI doesn't import street legal cars as they claim...at least not *federally* legal cars. I can get Spirit R's ALL DAY LONG into the US, but that doesn't mean that they're here *LEGALLY*."

That would be a tangled web...

Croked business men - use funds obtained for deposites for cars and buy a stake in troubled TVR firm..

Can't think why the SUN (who were at the press conference) have not picked up on that.. sounds right up their street..

Yes some of what you say is true, however many good cars have left BA after 1998 I've had some but we won't go into the whys and wherefors we all know what they are.
What we have here is a new begining with the right car, at the right price, for the right people, in the right country.

I dont think the two septics have bought TVR as a company, more bought the rights t produce a select few models and market them under the TVR banner in America.

Again, given the article that was posted on here from an Austrian motoring magazine, it would seem Cokend....erm Smellyend....Smallendski is still fully in charge of opperations

True, but you folks could buy them and for the most part didn't, while us over here wanted to buy them but couldn't. After the end of EU Type Approval for the RV8 cars in 2000 no TVRs were (officially) imported until 2003 when at long last we got an LHD version of the Tuscan, brought in via the UK SVA route. The next new model was the Sagaris that landed summer/fall 2006. No Cerberas, Tamoras or T350s (bar one RHD for demo/evaluation purposes) ever made it here as official imports. And we were/are lucky as TVR has an official distribution channel here...

Smoke and mirrors, the only thing anyone knows for certain is that TVRs are not being made at the current time. Anything else is just speculation, including who owns the company, where they're going to be built, when they're going to be built, IF they're going to built. Let's just sit calm and wait and see what happens.

The Americans just have an option to buy TVR and appear to be just a front for Smolenski.

Whatever happened to the call to arms to build the 15 or so Tivs still on the production line?
