Looking for my next car (Tuscan) and I was quoted the highest price as 12k! eek

Managed to get a much more reasonable quote a short while after, but I thought that was stupidly high!

what about you guys? anyone top 12k?

I think I was quoted about 4-5k when I was 23 on the Chimaera. But got it for £1500 in the end.

I had some crazy quotes in the region of 5-6k when i got the wedge! Ended up paying £1200 for 10 months!

More experiance on owning the car and suddenly the car club insurers took me on! Now pay £312! Slight difference in a year...!!!

i'm 27 and had a totting up ban last year and only have 2 yrs ncb.

still 12k is a little steep me thinks!

looks like i'm winning on the silly quotes game!

got insured for about a quarter of that, so still a hell of a lot of money!

I phone a certain dog-based insurer every year, that "guarantees to beat your quote", for a laugh.
They normally refuse point blank.

You want to be an old git like me - I was quoted £4000, but got it down to £900 with Adrian Flux, after alot of internet usage.
Norwich Union refused to insure the Tamora. I was with Bell (£800) but had to change because of the engine upgrade. Bell don't insure upgrades and it is better to notify them of any modifications you make to the car. Anyway Adrian Flux came up trumps and I was very impressed with them, also I got a refund from Bell without any fuss. All the money I have spent with the upgrades is basically insured with my new insurer- which is great because if the TVR is a right off then I get back the value of the car and the money I spent on the modifications.

A few years ago, a friend of mine had a Renault 19 16V, and did an online quote for it with one of the major insurers, can't remember which now. At the time he was 20 and had no ncb, so expected it to be pretty steep, but was a bit alarmed at how steep - £45k!!!!! - and no, I didn't miss out the decimal point - forty five thousand pounds to insure a Renault. Suffice to say he didn't take out the policy...

Hi I'm going to stop complaining at my £500 for the tuscan now. Its the only advantage of getting old as I see it. I used to pay £175 for the chimeara up till last year when I changed it.

I feel much happier now...
