hi all, using meguiars presently - reasonably happy, neighbour uses zymol on n-plate beemer & must admit it looks v. good. Is it worth the extra cost, meguiars does need alot of elbow grease. Suppose main question is does the fibre glass body react better to a certain polish - tried turtle wax and not good - paul

You might want to take a look at max-waxx , he is on PH using max-waxx as a handle.

Ive just bought a load of stuff from them, the majority of it Mothers. Shame, I dont have my car at the moment to pamper!

Definately the Meguires Gold Class for me. Never found it to be a ball ache to use; certainly less hard work than the Zymol.

Have used Meguiars for year also. Love the Gold class products and the new NXT wash and tech wax. Bought a Zymol starter kit a year ago and while i thought the shine was a bit better than Meguiars, it was much much more hassle to apply and buff off.

For easy of use, i use Meguiars each wash/wax, but give it a Zymol treatment once a year in Summer!

Zymol is very good, but it really isn't worth the extra money and the effort it requires. IMO of course.

Well, I cant comment on TVR's, but I have just spent the past two days detail my car to the best of my abilities

Started off with the engine bay, interior etc etc

Spent today washing, leathering and then onto my new thing

Meguiars 3 step Deep Crystal treatment

The paint cleaner is a real pain in the arse and I couldnt get rid of the smears...

Then I began to apply the Deep Crystal Polish and ohh my word

I havent seen the BMW shine like this before, its really transformed even to the point where I had a bloke 5 minutes ago stop and talk to me about the car just because of the way it looks...telling me it was beautiful and in excellent condition and how much he liked it yikes Ive never had such compliments before (no he wasnt holding a white stick!)

I darent tell him that Ive yet to apply the Carnuaba Wax rofl

An entire day well spent clap my compliments to Megiuars bow

A good purchase; I use their clay bar and 3 phase system on a really major clean and it works a treat. Takes time, but the finish is superb and it lasts for ages, as well as protecting the paintwork.

Agree with 2Munkys. After washing and waxing the car today I tried the Zymol Cleaner Wax on the boot lid first and then Meguires Gold Class for the rest and I have to say the Meguires was easier to buff off and the shine was the same and what a shine!!

Mind you the Zymol smells gorgeous mmmmmm!! Maybe have a go with the Zymol when I have some time to kill. Mate of mine says he washes with Meguires, then uses Zymol Cleaner Wax and then Meguires Gold Class Clear Wax! That would have taken me ages and I would be more knackered than I already am!!

Just need to do the leather interior next!

Anyway shes looking good for the hoon into the Cotswolds tomorrow cool

I forked out just under £100 for Zymol .. and it's bloody hard work.

Recently tried Meguires gold - which is around £12 a bottle and it's nice and easy to use and gives great results.

Both gave a good result.

I would not buy Zymol again..

Bear in mind guys, the cleaner waxes won't allow you to build up layers.
Also there's a lot more in the preparation prior to the wax than the wax itself!

Also not wishing to add to confusion, but you might want to consider Synthetic Waxes - high carnauba content isn't always the answer!

Use Meguiars on everything - including the Tuscan Challenge Car.

Absolutely fab!

Been Meguiars and Mothers through and through for a while. Love the stuff.

But went to a detailers meeting on Sunday (OK, I know it sounds sad). Learned some stuff. Bought some Zymol product. Followed the experts' instructions. Did the wifes black car yesterday.

Absolutely brilliant.

I guess a lot of the higher end waxes are similar and therefore very good, so I reckon I could stick with my Megs or Mothers carnuba paste (which I prefer).

But there is one product which stands out amazingly - the Zymol HD Cleanser.

Wash car properly, clay a panel, then apply HD cleanser before the wax/ Gotta do it carefully and quickly and forget it if it's sunny. But the difference is outstanding. Honestly. Lot's of different waxes being talked about at this meet I went to but nearly everyone used the HD Cleanser.

Yeah, a bit of effort but you only do all these stages 1 - 4 times per year depending on how and when you use your car.

But I do think that you need to see it demonstrated before you cough up the cash.
