South of France (next week) - The Bridge !!!!
Discussion
D907 is the dogs, only driven it in a bmw 328 conv but it was awesome. I heading down over the may bank holiday, and i should be crossing the bridge with an M3 and my tamora on the 7th may. Sadly we are pushed for time so I dont know if we will make the d907, but I am bloody tempted.
There are a two Driving Adventures TVR tours headed over the bridge this week and then again in a couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for 40 plus sports cars!
Here is a shot from 10 days ago that saw Porsche and Ferrari storm the bridge, 22 cars in all.
Have fun!

Hi, No, I don't know the area. My wife is working away from home for 3 weeks, so I am taking myself off for a solo blat around France for a week. I have done this twice at this time of year over the past 2 years. This year, due to the car I'm using, (its an MGB on steroids, live axle, leaf springs, 3.9 litre V8
its fun so long as the roads aren't too rough) I shall stick mainly to the 'red' roads on the map, but past experience taught me that these roads are also very entertaining, smooth, and likely to be utterly deserted at this time of year. I'm driving from Dieppe on Sunday to St. Flour in the Auvergne, autoroute all the way to get me down there. Then the following day the intention was to pick up the road(s) that travels due east to Le Puy en Velay and on to Valence, then further east to the Vercours. However, due entirely to TG last Sunday night, I've decided I must go and see that bridge. So from St. Flour I'm going via Rodez, then from the bridge I'm going along the D907bis, the gorges du Tarn, over to Ales and on to stop the night in Avignon.
Tuesday I'm going to attempt the loop around Mont Ventoux, but I reckon the road will be closed to snow 'cos it goes very high, above the vegetation line. Either way, from there I'm going to Nyons 'cos there's a great looking road to Serres. From there I'm going to Aix-leslBains via the Chamrousse loop at Uriage. Been there before and its fantastic. Virtually all of these roads are Monte Carlo rally routes, used at various times over the decades.
Wednesday I'll chill out in and around Aix, Thursday a good hack up through the Jura and Doubs up into the Vosges to stay at Gerardmer, and friday up through the Mosel to the 'Ring in the hope of a few laps in the evening. I believe that on Saturday there is a big BMW celebration going on, and Nick Heidfeld is due to drive the F1 car around the Nordschleife. But, I don't want to be greedy and I don't want to hang around all day in the hope of seeing this, not knowing if its just a demo or a serious attempt at a lap time, so I might bugger off home, but I'll see. If I do stop on the saturday it means I get home shattered after midnight Sunday with work the next morning.
What I'm looking for though, is a bit more of the fast flowing roads I've expereinced, whereby sometimes you can have the road to yourself for literally hours, where sometimes the roads are so empty they start to feel spooky. I have spent quite a bit of time climbing up and down the cols on the smaller roads, but I find that I just can't stop, literally, to take in all of the staggering views, of which there seems no end. I find I start losing a lot of time and my schedule goes to pot. So this year I'm sticking more to the main roads for more driving and a tad less sightseeing.
I must dig some piccies out.
